Assistant Coaches Scott Duncan (Offensive Line Coach) Scott Duncan enters his third season as the offensive line coach at Bowling Green after joining the staff in the spring of 1983. In addition to his coaching duties, Duncan will recruit the Northwest Ohio and Canadian regions. Duncan, 28, is a 1975 graduate of Findlay High School and a 1980 alumni of North- western University. While at Northwestern, Duncan was an outstanding linebacker who serv- ed as a tri-captain as a senior. He was also the Wildcats' leading tackier. After graduating with a degree in education, Duncan served as a part-time assistant coach at Northwestern for one season. During the 1981-82 seasons, he was a graduate assis- tant coach at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. During that time, he earned his Master's degree in social studies. A recipient of the Tommy Airth Award while playing at Northwestern, Duncan was born May 23, 1957, in Ravenna. He is married to the former Mary Henderson. Jon Hoke (Defensive Secondary Coach) Jon Hoke begins his third season in charge of the defensive secondary at Bowling Green after joining the staff in the summer of 1983. In addition to his coaching duties, Hoke coor- dinates the special teams and recruits the Dayton and Cincinnati areas. Hoke, 28, is a 1975 graduate of Fairmont East High School in Kettering and a 1980 graduate of Ball State University. He was a four-year starter in the defensive secondary for the Cardinals from 1976-79 and an all-Mid-American Conference selection as a senior. He was BSU's defensive back of the week six times and twice earned MAC Player of the Week honors. During his playing days, Hoke helped lead the Cardinals to a 33-11 composite record and two MAC titles. After graduating from Ball State with a degree in physical education, Hoke signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bears and played with them for one season. He was also a member of the Kansas City Chiefs before leaving pro football in 1982. Hoke spent one season as a part-time secondary coach at the University of Dayton before serving in the same capacity at North Carolina State University in the spring of 1983. Born January 24, 1957, Jon is married to the former Jody Lynn Hilles. Tim McConnell (Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach) Tim McConnell is in his fifth year on the Bowling Green football staff and his third season as the defensive coordinator. In his first two seasons at BGSU he coached the wide receivers. McConnell also recruits the Toledo and Detroit areas and is responsible for junior college recruiting as well. McConnell, 30, is a 1973 graduate of Darlington High School in Darlington, WI, and a 1977 graduate of the University of Wisconsin. A three-year letterman at Wisconsin McCon- nell was selected Academic All-Big 10. After graduating with a degree in physical education in 1977, McConnell joined the Badger coaching staff for a year-and-one-half as a graduate assistant and part-time assistant. McConnell came to Bowling Green in 1981 after serving on the football staff at Northern Arizona University for two years. He coached the defensive backfield and the offensive backfield for one year each. Bo™ July 20. 1955, in Freeport, IL, he is married to the former Sandi Johnson. Tim and Sandi are the parents of three boys, Scott 6 and twins Brian and Bobby, 3. Mark Miller (Receivers Coach) Mark Miller begins his third season as the receivers coach at Bowling Green No stranger to Falcon football, Miller was a record-setting quarterback at BGSU from 1974-77 and a part- time assistant coach in 1982. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Miller coordinates the BGSU Summer Sports School football camp and recruits the Akron-Canton area A 1974 graduate of Canton South High School and a 1978 grad of Bowling Green Miller earned first team all-MAC honors as a senior. Miller, 28, set numerous passing and total offense records at BGSU that stood until current QB Brian McClure came on the scene Tn-captain of the Falcon team as a senior, Mark finished his collegiate career with 455 pass completions in 851 attempts. He threw for 5,919 yards and 33 touchdowns while gaining 6,329 yards in total offense. All are former BGSU records. Following graduation, Miller was drafted and signed by the Cleveland Browns where he spent two seasons as a back-up to Brian Sipe. After a season with the Green Bay Packers Miller was a quarterback on the 1983 USFL Champion Michigan Panthers. Born August 13, 1956, Miller is married to the former Barb Reardon a BGSU cheerleader during Miller's playing days for the Falcons. They are the parents of two sons Zachary 4, and Adam, 1. Mark is also very active in the Bowling Green chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Q' .
