And I didn't have a chance to 4 attend many of these meetings. The last 5 time I attended this was last December, 6 which I think we had the meeting over at 7 Bayside, but this is a very important 8 roundtable of representatives of elected 9 officials, as well as industry groups, 10 civic associations. 11 And we all care very much about 12 what's happening in our skies and how that 13 translates into what's happening in our 14 ears. And so we want to make sure that we 15 allow the skies to be friendly to 16 everybody, including residents in our 17 communities, the people that we all 18 represent. 19 So I'm here to lend you support. 20 Akshor Patel, my deputy chief of staff, is 21 going to be here for the whole meeting I 22 have a lot of things to get to tonight. 23 So I want to wish you a great 24 meeting, and keep up the great work that 25 you're doing. March 27, 2018 Commissioners Delaware River Basin Commission PO Box 7360 West Trenton, NJ 08628-9522 RE: Proposed Special Regulations Part 440 Dear Commissioners, We represent millions of residents in New York City and State who rely on the Delaware River watershed to supply our drinking water needs. We write to urge the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) to enact a complete and permanent ban on natural gas development and hydraulic fracturing and all related activities (including drilling, fracking, wastewater processing, and discharges from and water withdrawals for drilling and fracking operations) throughout the Basin. As the federal-interstate agency formed under a Compact in 1961 to manage the water resources of the Watershed, the DRBC members – the Governors of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware, and the federal government – are charged with protecting the shared waters that provide over 15 million people with drinking water, including ourselves and our constituents in New York City. The DRBC actions are based on its powers to establish standards, plans, rules and regulations, and to control, prevent and abate pollution from activities that may have a substantial effect on the water resources of the Basin. Through these means, the DRBC has worked to protect public health and preserve basin waters to meet “present and future needs.” We applaud and support the DRBC’s mission, which equally protects all watershed states, and those who live, work, and recreate here, now and in the future. There is significant evidence that natural gas development, and its related operations, have substantial adverse effects on public health, property interests, agriculture, air, water, and land.

    CITY PLANNING COMMISSION September 3, 2019 / Calendar No. 1 C 190333 PSY IN THE MATTER OF an application submitted by the New York City Department of Correction, the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, and the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services, pursuant to Section 197-c of the New York City Charter, for the site selection of property located at: 1. 745 East 141st Street (Block 2574, p/o Lot 1), Bronx Community District 1; 2. 275 Atlantic Avenue (Block 175, Lot 1), Brooklyn Community District 2; 3. 124 White Street (Block 198, Lot 1) and 125 White Street (Block 167, Lot 1), Manhattan Community District 1; and 4. 126-02 82nd Avenue (Block 9653, Lot 1), 80-25 126th Street (Block 9657, Lot 1), and the bed of 82nd Avenue between 126th and 132nd streets, Queens Community District 9; for borough-based jail facilities. This application (C 190333 PSY) for a site selection was filed by the New York City (NYC) Department of Correction (DOC), the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) and the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) (collectively, the “Applicant”) on March 22, 2019. The proposed action, along with the related actions, would facilitate the development of four detention facilities that comprise the NYC borough-based jail system in Bronx Community District 1, Brooklyn Community District 2, Manhattan Community District 1 and Queens Community District 9.     NEW YORK STATE SENATE NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY April 7, 2020 Governor Andrew M. Cuomo Executive Chamber The Capitol Albany, New York 12224 Dear Governor Cuomo: We write to request the immediate release of $5 million to the “Metropolitan New York Coordinating Council on Jewish Poverty” (known as Met Council) from the 2020/21 Budget Special Public Health Emergency Appropriation Account. As has been widely reported, significant undesignated emergency funds for New York’s food pantries are to be disbursed from this account for expenses in the COVID-19 pandemic. With the Passover holiday starting Wednesday night, Met Council has been working overtime as New York’s only kosher food bank to provide nutrition, tradition, and dignity to vulnerable kosher New Yorkers. This past month alone, they have distributed millions of pounds of free food to 149 distribution sites across New York despite the greatest challenges. Temporary workers are replacing elderly volunteers to keep their warehouse and pantries open. And despite cancelled produce shipments, disrupted supply chains and spikes in the wholesale price of food staples, Met Council is continuing service to 225,000 existing clients and 40 regular food pantries while mobilizing emergency food to thousands of additional families facing new financial hardship. Met Council has even taken it upon themselves to provide homebound Holocaust survivors with food deliveries directly to their homes. Through a new warehouse that they have secured, and with limited private funding, Met Council just launched a pilot with Uber that is delivering food directly to the homes of 500 Holocaust survivors.
