  • Eric Clapton

  • Wonderful Tonight – Eric Clapton You'll Find Two Overall Guitar Parts in This Song, with One Being the Main Backing
Wonderful Tonight – Eric Clapton You'll find two overall guitar parts in this song, with one being the main backing (picked out) and one being the lead. This lead isn't so much lead as it is a nice melodic accompaniment to the song itself. Both guitar parts are quite easy in terms of arrangement, so with a few picking points from the lesson video and a few suggested fingerings you should be able to play this one pretty quickly. This is what you'll play for the main guitar during the intro/pre-verse: Here's the verse theme: Notice that it is almost identical to the intro/pre-verse, with the only slight change being at the end on the Dsus2. You walk on the A string with a 0 – 2. That will indicate to you that the next chord is going to be a C chord. The C chord starts the chorus: There aren't many variations here, but the video lesson will help you if you have trouble. After this you'll play the same intro theme you played earlier, but just one time through using the G6 | Dsus2 | C | Dsus2 from earlier: You'll then have another verse, which is identical the verse you played earlier. Up next is another chorus, but it's just slightly different at the end. Notice the change here takes place in the last two measures, where you hold the G chord out and then do the same walk on the A string from 0 – 2. As mentioned earlier, this will indicate you are going to a C chord.

  • Wonderful Tonight #HL 702056
FENDER PLAYERS CLUB ERIC CLAPTON Music from the book: THE ERIC CLAPTON BOOK Easy Guitar Wonderful Tonight #HL 702056. Book $17.95 (US). Read more... Easy Guitar Arrangement Words and Music by Eric Clapton Copyright © 1977 by Eric Patrick Clapton All Rights for the U.S. Administered by Unichappell Music Inc. International Copyright Secured All Rights Reserved Eric Clapton's laid-back classic "Wonderful Tonight" is from his hit 1977 album, Slowhand, and was written in just a few hours as he waited for his wife to make up her mind about which dress to wear for a party. The song opens with its hook - the string-bending soulful guitar part in the first four measures - and then moves into the verse. However, since this is a beginner lesson, we'll just stick with the strumming, and show you a simplified version of the chords, and show you how to work the strumming pattern. As you progress as a guitarist, you can learn the full version - and in fact, you might be able to figure it out by listening to Clapton's recording and playing along. The Intro and Verse to this song use just four chords: G, C, D and Em (E minor). Those first three major chords are some of the most commonly used in rock music, and the minor chord, Em, gives the song that wistful feeling that leads into the melody's resolution. G D C Em 21 3 132 32 1 12 Here is the strumming pattern to use for this song. In this diagram, the means "downstroke," and the means "upstroke." Strum down for the downstroke, and up for the upstroke.

  • When Gods Fall
METROPLUS When gods fall Reji Varghese MAY 21, 2016 17:10 IST UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 12, 2016 19:43 IST REJI VARGHESE shares his thoughts on Eric Clapton’s new album, I Still Do People have a tendency to follow the herd. Take music fans for example: if they really don’t like a cult artiste’s music, they are often hesitant to voice their opinion. Over the years, I’ve heard friends and musicians refer to Clapton as “repetitive”, “predictable” and “unoriginal”, but this was done in hushed tones because after all, “Clapton is God”, as the famous graffiti at Islington Station declared in the Sixties. These were exactly my thoughts while listening to Clapton’s latest album, I Still Do, which released on May 20. There are three Clapton originals — ‘Spiral’, ‘I’ll be Alright’ and ‘Catch the Blues’ — all of which are lacklustre. The guitar playing is still great; but they’re the same recycled pentatonic and blues licks that you’ve heard over and over on his albums from decades ago. But my biggest problem is that the nine other songs in the album are covers. There are three interesting things on this album: the cover designed by Peter Blake (who had designed the album cover for The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band); the slick production by Glyn Johns, who has produced albums for The Who, The Rolling Stones and Eagles, among others; and a posthumous guest appearance by George Harrison on the song ‘I Will Be There’. Harrison is credited as Angelo Mysterioso, a pseudonym he used previously for a cameo appearance on Cream’s album Goodbye in 1969.
