Following her gymnastics success, 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin, in conjunction with USA Gymnastics, established the Nastia Liukin Fund, a charitable fund within the National Gymnastics Foundation, in 2009.

The fund’s goals include building partnerships with fitness-oriented programs for young people, and supporting clubs who have programs that aid athletes who need financial assistance to remain or become involved in gymnastics.

“Gymnastics has given me the opportunity to achieve my dreams and goals,” said Liukin, who won nine World and five Olympic medals in her career. “Gymnastics has given me so much, and now I want to give back to the community that has supported me for my entire career and to help others. The Nastia Liukin Fund provides me with a way to do that.”

Plans are for the fund to disburse grants annually, and a five-person committee, which includes Liukin, will determine the recipients and financial allocation, as appropriate. The deadline for requests is April 1. Interested organizations and clubs may learn more about the application process and requirements at usagym.org/nastialiukinfund.

The Nastia Liukin Fund is supported through donations and the proceeds from Nastia Liukin Cup and Series, which were introduced in 2010. To make a donation to the Nastia Liukin Fund, please visit usagym.org/foundation.

Destination Worcester is proud to partner with USA Gymnastics, the City of Worcester, and the DCU Center on the 2013 American Cup and Nastia Liukin Cup.

Best of luck to all of the competitors.

Welcome to Worcester.
