OTHER CONFERENCES NCAA Division I Playoff Information: This season marks the fi fth of an expanded 24-team fi eld for FCS Opponents the NCAA Division I Football Championship; in 2010 the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Big Sky 0-0 playoff fi eld expanded to 20 teams, up from 16 previously, and in 2013 the fi eld increased to 24 for the Big South 0-1 fi rst time. The expansion in 2010 to 20 teams was the fi rst since the fi eld grew from 12 to 16 teams CAA 0-0 Independent 0-0 in 1997. The 24-team fi eld is comprised of 10 automatic bids and 14 at-large berths. There are eight Ivy 0-0 fi rst round matchups (16 total teams), while eight (8) teams receive a bye into the second round. For MEAC 0-0 the eighth time in 2017, the championship game will be played in Frisco, Texas at Toyota Stadium, a Missouri Valley 1-1 20,500-seat multi-purpose stadium. In addition, 10 student-athletes were awarded the OVC Academic Medal of Honor for achieving perfect 4.0 GPAs. The OVC also awards a Team Academic Award for the football program with the FBS Opponents highest percentage of players with a 3.25 grade point average or higher; that award went to Eastern American Athletic 0-1 Atlantic Coast 0-1 Illinois for 2016-17. GAME NOTES: Austin Peay and Morehead State will play for the 45th time on Saturday and fi rst since the 2006 season when both were members of the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League. The two teams played all but one season from 1962 to 2006 until the recent hiatus. Austin Peay won the last meeting 23-21 to snap a 10-game losing streak in the all-time series. Austin Peay is looking to snap a 29-game losing streak overall dating back to October 2014 (it is currently the longest losing streak in OVC history).

SCOUTING MOREHEAD STATE: After opening the season with a 56-14 home victory over Kentucky Christian, Morehead State dropped a 58-17 decision to No. 20 ranked Liberty this past weekend. Liberty, who is currently transitioning to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), had 523 yards of total off ense in the victory. Junior quarterback Lawson Page fi nished the game 18-of-31 for 187 yards and a touchdown; through two games this season he has completed 72.2 percent of his passes for 471 yards and fi ve touch- downs. Logan Holbrook had a team-best 44 rushing yards and is averaging 74.0 yards/game on the ground. Sophomore linebacker Jerome Brooks had eight tackles, including 2.5 for loss, and recovered a fumble against Liberty while Sayyid Kanu had a game-high nine stops. Brooks has a team-high 16 tackles, including 4.0 for loss, on the season. MSU punter Bradley Boone averaged 41.9 yards/punt in the game, including a 56-yarder; on the season he is averaging 46.7 yards/punt, which currently ranks third nationally.

SCOUTING AUSTIN PEAY: Playing against its second-consecutive Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent of the season, Austin Peay trailed Miami (Ohio) 21-10 entering the fourth quarter before eventually falling 31-10. The Governors have been competitive in both FBS games of the season, hold- ing both opponents to less than 300 yards of total off ense, a fi rst in program history against a higher division opponent. Miami fi nished with 295 yards while Austin Peay had 270 for the contest. The Govs rushed for 160 yards, marking the 11th-straight game the team has rushed for at least 100 yards in a game. Quarterback JaVaughn Craig led the way with 54 yards and a touchdown before exiting the game while Ahmaad Tanner added 51 rushing yards. Craig passed for 35 yards and in place of him freshman Jeremiah Oatsvall completed 7-of-12 pases for 75 yards while being intercepted once. The Govs defense accounted for four sacks, the most in a single game since the 2011 season; Jaison Williams had two of those sacks for APSU. Junior Gunnar Scholato had 11 tackles against Miami (after recording nine in the season-opener). Scholato currently ranks 38th nationally in tackles/game (10.0). Senior Malik Boynton recovered two fumbles in the game and cur- rently ranks fi rst nationally in that category. Overall the Austin Peay defense ranks 17th nationally in total defense (271.5 yards/game) and 11th in pass defense (148.0 yards/game).
