Students coming from one of the partner institutions with which bilateral agreement has been signed, can be entitled to continue their curriculum in one of the programmes at Politecnico di Milano. The level (Bachelor of Science or Master of Science) and the Informações period of study vary upon agreement. Most of the agreements substitute one year at the home university with two years at Politecnico di Milano. Students will attend courses and prepare thesis work at our institution. Students will also have to develop a final project under the supervision of one of the Professors of Politecnico di Milano and they will discuss it in front of a Committee. The departmental coordinator of each programme has the role of tutor and advices and helps double degree incoming students during their academic activities at Politecnico di Milano. T.I.M.E. The Top Industrial Managers for Europe (T.I.M.E.) programme was started in 1988 by some of the most important European Schools of Engineering and it became an Association in 1997. Politecnico di Milano is a founding member of the T.I.M.E. Association, which nowadays counts 54 members among the leading European Technical Institutions. Politecnico di Milano was the President of the Association from 2000 to 2005 and from 2013 to 2015. The purpose of T.I.M.E. is to train future managers by offering them a scientific, technical and cultural experience of high level in two European countries and the opportunity to live a first-hand company experience in a country other than the country of origin. The Association promotes bilateral agreements between its member Institutions in order to set up double degree programmes. At present, Politecnico di Milano offers students the opportunity of obtaining a double degree in cooperation with 33 partner Institutions. Both the degree of Politecnico di Milano and the one of the partner Institution have a legal value in the country where they are obtained. Within the T.I.M.E. Programme, Engineering students coming from one of the partner institutions, with which the bilateral agreement has been stipulated, are usually allowed to substitute one year at their home institution with two years at Politecnico di Milano. All incoming students, who will come within the frame of the T.I.M.E. programme, will be enrolled in Engineering study courses at the level of "Laurea Magistrale" (equivalent to Master of Science) at Politecnico di Milano. Students are usually required to spend two years at Politecnico di Milano and to face a workload of 120 ECTS. In order to be awarded the degree of Politecnico di Milano and the one by the home Institution, students have to fulfil all the requirements established in the bilateral agreements and explicitly made known to the students by the relevant study course regulations: the departmental coordinator of each Engineering study course has the role of tutor and he/she advices and helps T.I.M.E. students during their academic activities at Politecnico di Milano. Students will also have to develop a final project under the supervision of one of the Professors of Politecnico di Milano and they will discuss it in front of a Committee. ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE_throughout the semester in Milan In order to take full advantage of student mobility, the Politecnico di Milano recommends language level B1 in Italian and B2 in English (for English-taught programmes only) Politecnico di Milano offers an Italian language course paying a low price. We’ll send directly to the accepted students the link to register online in due time. Politecnico di Milano doesn’t assign credits for the Italian language course.     Classifying Educational Programmes Manual for ISCED-97 Implementation in OECD Countries 1999 Edition ORGANISATION FOR ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT Foreword As the structure of educational systems varies widely between countries, a framework to collect and report data on educational programmes with a similar level of educational content is a clear prerequisite for the production of internationally comparable education statistics and indicators. In 1997, a revised International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED-97) was adopted by the UNESCO General Conference. This multi-dimensional framework has the potential to greatly improve the comparability of education statistics – as data collected under this framework will allow for the comparison of educational programmes with similar levels of educational content – and to better reflect complex educational pathways in the OECD indicators. The purpose of Classifying Educational Programmes: Manual for ISCED-97 Implementation in OECD Countries is to give clear guidance to OECD countries on how to implement the ISCED-97 framework in international data collections. First, this manual summarises the rationale for the revised ISCED framework, as well as the defining characteristics of the ISCED-97 levels and cross-classification categories for OECD countries, emphasising the criteria that define the boundaries between educational levels. Research and creative activity are reflected in requirements for graduate theses, research courses, independent study programs, and related research activities with graduate faculty members who mentor graduate candidates through the process of scholarly inquiry and expression in their academic disciplines. The master’s and specialist’s thesis are designed to promote and support graduate research. A thesis is a required component of some master’s and specialist’s degrees or options. The thesis is a scholarly contribution to knowledge in the candidate’s selected area of study. Thesis research is conducted by degree candidates in consultation with a thesis committee and under the direct supervision of the thesis director who must be a Regular Member of the Graduate Faculty. The committee oversees and guides the research to ensure that the completed scholarship meets the standards for original research of Eastern Illinois University and the academic discipline. The purpose of the Manual for the Master’s and Specialist’s Thesis is to provide graduate candidates with clear and concise guidelines to facilitate student success and to assist students in achieving a high quality thesis.
