These tensions need to be balanced in order to draw on both poles and maintain the family busi- ness identities. In an empirical study of two media organizations dualities of informality- formality, independence-dependence, historic paths-new paths, and commercial- journalistic are used to understand how stakeholders balance the tensions in these dualities and thereby construct organizational identities. The study reveals the central role of owning family members in organizational identity construction. The dualities perspective broadens studies on organizational identity construc- tion as it accounts for the peculiarities of family businesses. I argue that these du- alities are basis for constructing organizational identities that require stakeholders to work with managing the inherent tensions in the dualities. Based on my findings I recommend owning families to consider that being a family business is an identity statement implying that other stakeholders will consider them as role model whether they like it or not.     Democratic principles and the energy transition The case of municipal decision making and wind power development in Sweden By: Sania Valivand Supervisor: Mats Nilsson Södertörn University | Department of Economics Master’s dissertation 30 credits Economics | Spring semester 2021 (Economics Master´s Programme 120 credits) Abstract The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate if the municipal decision on wind power development can be explained by a model including socioeconomic variables and proxies for the natural environment, using a pooled cross-section data set for Swedish municipalities for the period 2010-2019. The study poses the question whether politicians' decisions-making can be explained by socioeconomic factors. In order to analyse the approving or denying of wind power development in Swedish municipalities, three models are used: the linear probability model, the probit and the logit model. The results show that the Green political party (positively affecting wind power development) and that the unemployment rate, income, population density, protected areas and the affiliations with the Sweden Democrats (negatively affecting the approval rate), has a statistical significant effect on the permission process. Installed capacity of wind power plants seemingly have no impact. Our findings suggest that the municipal decision making is less random than the critics of the municipal veto proposes.     German-Jewish migration to Sweden - Interdisciplinary Perspectives on History, Identity & Religion English abstracts for papers given in German Thursday, November 6 Keynote II: Professor Dr. Helmut Müssener, UU: Schwedisch-deutsch-jüdische Beziehungen. Eine Desideratenarie Swedish-German-Jewish Relations. A Desideratum. In my lecture, I incorporate the current state of research and compose a catalog of various questions that, as far as I know, are still awaiting an answer. I postulate that the formulation in the invitation to the conference, which speaks of frequent connections between Swedish and German Jewry (italics mine) is an understatement. Rather, we should be speaking about very close and regular contacts, which were the case for a large percentage of Swedish Jewry up until World War II. Moreover, the question will be raised as to how and by whom the object of research is to be defined. The first three sentences from the memoirs of Gunilla Palmstierna Weiss play an important role here: I’ve often asked myself why Peder Herzog, my great-grandfather on my mother’s side, is never mentioned in the research on the history of Jews in Sweden. Why did the established citizenry of Stockholm consider him a Jew, but not the Jews themselves, who, like him, began settling in Stockholm in the mid 19th century? He was born in Niederwiesen/Oppenheim near Mainz in 1838. Then I will present a short bibliographic overview of Swedish secondary literature up to now and segue to open questions about the history of Jewish immigration from German-speaking Central Europe from its very beginnings, though I will first deal with the years after 1933.

    Nordicom Review 29 (2008) 2, pp. 325-334 End-game Strategies in the Swedish National Tabloid Industry KARL ERIK GUSTAFSSON Abstract Based on decades of comparative research on the national tabloid industry in the Nordic countries, a forecast is made, based on the product life cycle (PLC) theory, that the Swedish national tabloid industry will decline. As PLC theory is a blunt forecasting instrument, every precaution is taken; still a forecast is made that the No.2 tabloid will lose the present end- game to the market leader and disappear in 5-10 years time. End-game strategies as well as exit barriers are discussed in detail. The conclusions are valid for the national tabloid indu- stries in the other Nordic countries following the same pattern of development. In passing, the question is raised of whether Internet publishing will change the rules of the game. Keywords: national tabloid, PLC, declining industry, end-game strategies, exit barriers Introduction It took the Bonnier family, the biggest media owner in Sweden, 25 years to get the eve- ning tabloid Expressen started in 1944 in Stockholm, the Swedish capital. The family council could not agree on whether the planned popular evening daily would hurt the reputation of or even overtake the position of its quality morning daily, Dagens Nyheter, as the biggest Swedish newspaper. Some 25 years following its launch, Expressen hit a circulation record of 620,000 copies daily. Twenty-five years later, circulation numbers plunged to the lowest level ever. Now, 10 years after the plummet in circulation, which signalled a new negative trend, doubts could be raised as to whether the paper will be around another 25 years.

    Nr 4/2017 Hundra år med Hallandscentern Starten för 100 år sedan Det var den 17 december 1917 som Hallands valkretsförbund av Jordbrukarnas riksförbund bildades. Det är det datumet som räknas som starten för hallandsdistriktet. När detta förbund 1921 , på riksplan, slogs samman med Bondeförbundet ändrade valkretsförbundets namn till Hallands distrikt av Bondeförbundet. Bondeförbundet sedermera Centerpartiet (C) bildades redan 1910. Efterhand organiserades partiet i distrikt, i första hand genom sammanslagningar av de partier och organisationer som organiserade lantbrukare under uppropet: ”BRÖDER LÅTOM OSS ENAS!”. 1957 skedde namnbytet från Bondeförbundet till Centerpartiet. Från Johansson till Johansson riksdagsledamöterna 1917-2017 Fram till 1972 hade Sveriges Riksdag ett tvåkammarsystem. Den första kammaren (FK) var indirekt vald medan ledamöterna i andra kammaren (AK) var direktvalda i allmänna val. Kom ihåg att någon verklig demokrati med lika rösträtt för kvinnor och män fick vi inte förrän i valet 1921. Vi räknar nedan upp de ledamöter som under sin ämbetsperiod var bosatta inom det vi dag kallar för Halland. Local newspapers typically rely on a so called 33/67 business model where 33 percent of revenues stem from newspaper sales, mainly through subscription fees, and the remaining 67 percent are derived from advertisement. Thus, advertisement subsidizes the subscription price which is a newspaper business model that has prevailed for the past 150 years. However, the newspaper industry is experiencing a severe decline in terms of both circulation and advertisement revenue and there is talk of a pending newspaper death. This thesis investigate preconditions for newspaper profitability in an industry severely altered by digital forces by means of a single case study at Göteborgs-Posten (GP), the largest paper within SMG with a yearly turnover of about one billion SEK. Through 2011 to 2013, GP’s newspaper sales revenues remained stable meanwhile advertisement revenues decreased by about 100 MSEK a year. Swedish newspaper circulation has fallen steadily during the past years and GP has experienced one of the worst declines which so far have been offset by price increases revenue-wise.
