The 2020 Tournament Regulations is a handy guide to specific rules pertaining to PGA TOUR Champions play. We have incorporated changes made to the Tournament Regulations since last year into this year’s book. In addition, there is an index for quick reference. These Regulations are the final authority on the operations and policies of PGA TOUR Champions. I encourage every member to become familiar with these rules. The SAS Championship, an official event on the Champions Tour, returns to Prestonwood Country Club, September 20-26. Kite, a 19-time PGA TOUR winner, has seven Champions Tour victories in his four years on Tour. His most recent win came eight days ago at the 3M Championship when he sank three birdies in the last seven holes to win by one stroke over Craig Stadler, also committed to the SAS Championship field. Kite has seven other top-10 finishes this year. His victory at the 3M Championship ended a winless streak dating back to October 2002 and spanning 47 tournaments where he finished in second place six times. One of those second place finishes was last year’s SAS Championship. Kite recorded a career best single-round score of 61 at Prestonwood Country Club during Sunday’s final round, vaulting him from 34th place into a second place finish behind D.A. Weibring. “Tom made an incredible run at last year’s title, posting a score early, creating the stage for an incredibly dramatic finish,” said Jeff Kleiber, tournament director. “He’s one of the best golfers that’s ever played the game.

The Bermuda grass is growing, allowing us to open the driving range tee and the new short game area this month. In April, the Men’s Member/Member Championship scheduled for April 9-10 is full. All golf leagues are wrapping up their main tournament events this month, and we all look forward to hopefully being back to normal in the fall with shotgun starts and luncheons. Congratulations to all the winners from last month in the Men's 18-Hole Club Championship, Women's 18-Hole Club Championship and the Oro Valley Amateur.     Zurich Classic of New Orleans Record Book (est. 2017, thru 2019) *2017 & 2018 Format Information: An historic change was made to the format of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2017, making the event a two-player team event featuring Foursomes (alternate shot) during the first and third rounds and Four-ball (best ball) during the second and fourth rounds. A change was made at the 2018 Zurich Classic of New Orleans , with the two formats switching rotations. Rounds one and three in the two-player team event featured the Four-ball (best ball) format, while the second and fourth rounds used the Foursomes (alternate shot) format. Since the formation of the PGA TOUR (1968), the Zurich Classic became the first official event to utilize Foursomes as part of a team competition. The 2017 Zurich Classic was the first official PGA TOUR team event in 36 years. Before that, the last official PGA TOUR team event was the 1981 Walt Disney World National Team Championship held at the Magnolia, Palm and Lake Buena Vista courses at Disney. Vance Heafner and Mike Holland won that title. The tournament became an individual stroke-play event in 1982. The Zurich Classic awards FedExCup points and official money and counts as an official victory for the members of the winning team. The LPGA Legends Tour held its first event of the season at the White Horse Golf Club in Kingston with the inaugural Suquamish Clearwater Casino Legends Cup. It might not have been an LPGA Tour event, but Professional tours set to many of the names were familiar and had played at hit the Pacific Northwest the Safeco Classic 20 years ago when it was held at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent. Irwin, a Missouri native, has 45 PGA TOUR Champions victories, including six major championships, and he has claimed two Charles Schwab Cup titles. Irwin is a 20-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including three U.S. Open victories.
