THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 5 and 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be:

1. To impose a 40mph Speed Limit on part of Hunts Lane, Desford

STATEMENT OF REASONS

Leicestershire County Council is proposing to lower the speed limit on Hunts Lane, Desford from 50mph to 40mph after a number of safety concerns were raised by residents regarding vehicle speeds.

The Leicestershire County Council (“the Council") in exercise of its powers under Sections

5 , 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act") and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and Regulation 23 of the Local Authorities Traffic Order

(Procedure) and Wales Regulations 1996, hereby makes the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as “The Leicestershire County Council (Borough of Hinckley

and Bosworth) (Hunts Lane, Desford) (Imposition of 40mph Speed Limit ) Order 202 ”

2. The Order shall come into force on the day of 2021

3. The Order referred to in Schedule 1 is hereby revoked in full.

4. The Order referred to in Schedule 2 is hereby revoked in part.

5. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 MPH on the lengths

of roads as specified in Schedule 3 to this Order.

1. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per

hour on the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Order.

2. The Leicestershire County Council (Barlestone Road, Desford Road and Hunts

Lane (Route B582) Parishes of Newbold Verdon and Desford)(50 mph Speed

Limit) Order 1983 is hereby revoked.

3. The plan annexed to this Order and marked 'Drawing No. 11842/12/1' is for

identification purposes only.

4. This Order may be cited as "The Leicestershire County Council (Barlestone

Road, Desford Road and Hunts Lane (Route B582) Parishes of Newbold

Verdon and Desford) (Imposition of 40 mph Speed Limit and Revocation of 50

mph Speed Limit) Order 2005", and shall come into force on the 14th day of

The lengths of roads known as Barlestone Road, Desford Road and Hunts Lane (Route 6582) in the Parishes of Newbold Verdon and Desford which extends from a point 27 metres north west of its northerly junction with Dragon Lane in the Parish of Newbold Verdon in a south easterly direction to a point 130 metres east of its junction with Kirby Lane in the Parish of Desford.

Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby

makes the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as "The Leicestershire County Council, (Hunts Lane, in

the Parish of Desford) ( Revocation of 50 MPH and Imposition of Restricted

Road Status 40 MPH and 50 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2015"

2. The Order shall come into force on the first day of June 2015

3. The Leicestershire County Council (8582 Hunts Lane, Parish of Desford)

(Imposition of 50 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2006 is hereby revoked in full.

3. The Leicestershire County Council (8arlestone Road,Desford Road and Hunts

Lane (Route 8582) Parishes of Newbold Verdon and Desford) (Imposition of

40 MPH Speed Limit and Revocation of 50 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2005 is

hereby revoked in full.

4. The Leicestershire County Council (8agworth Road (8582) (Part) Newbold

Heath, Parish of Newbold Verdon) (40 MPH Speed Limit, De-Restriction and

Revocation) Order 1995 is herby revoked in full.

3. That length of road as specified in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a

restricted road for the purpose of Section 81 of the Act. 4. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 MPH on the

length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.

S. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding SO MPH on the

length of road specified in Schedule 3 to this Order
