Survivors include daughter Tina Fernandez, Plymouth; four sons, Bill Hatfield and John Hatfield, both of Plymouth, Rick Hatfield and Ed Hatfield, both of Bremen; four brothers, Butch Hatfield, Elkhart, Rich Hatfield, Fort Wayne, Dale Hatfield and Gary Hatfield. Visitation is from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. The family will have a private funeral service. Monday, January 4, 2016 LaBerta Marie Patch LaTurner April 10, 1918 – Jan. 2, 2016 LaBerta Marie Patch LaTurner, 97, Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver, formerly of Argos, passed away at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, in Culver. She was born on April 10, 1918, in Sand Creek, Mont., the daughter of Lee Hall and Olive (Simons) Thornburg. She attended Lone Pine School in that area and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1936. She then graduated from Kennedy Deaconess Hospital in Havre, Mont., and worked there as a registered nurse. LaBerta married Stanley Lynd Patch on Dec. 24, 1940, in Sand Creek, Mont. They later moved to Culbertson, Mont., where their children attended school. LaBerta worked at the new twelve bed hospital in Culbertson. In 1957, the family moved to Nyona Lake, where she worked for Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester for 26 years before retiring in April 1983. Her husband Stanley Patch preceded her in death on June 8, 1966. On Nov. 9, 1979, she married Francis Eugene LaTurner of Argos, where they made their home. Francis preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1996. LaBerta was a member of Parkside Community Church (Argos Bible Church) Argos, and enjoyed painting, writing poetry, quilting, reading, making rice bags and pillows. Survivors include her children, Janie and husband Jim Mechling, Argos, Diana Patch, Holland, Mich., Keith and wife Jane Patch, Osteen, Fla.; stepchildren Robert and wife Mary LaTurner, Normal, Ill., Karen Alison, Kokomo; son-in-law John Fry, Rochester; grandchildren Glenda Mechling- Smith and husband Bill, Argos, Michael and wife Delane Mechling, Lafayette, Colo., Jeff Patch, Calif., Brian Patch and companion Melissa, California, Lori Fry and companion Rodney Young, Rochester, Lisa Fry, Richman Hills, Ga., Brady Patch, Holland, Mich., Sueann VanDerMyden and husband Rick, Elk Grove, Calif.; great-grandchildren Kelton Fry, Courtney Fry, Kiah Fry, Krista Fry, all of Rochester, James Mechling Smith, Argos, Tristan Patch, Holland, Mich., Brianna Mechling and Alexa Mechling, Lafayette, Colo., Courtney VanDerMyden and Tori VanDerMyden, Elk Grove, Calif.; great-great-grandchildren, Iro Fry and Raylee Fry, both of Rochester; and seven step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; daughter Marilyn Fry in 2014; and eight brothers and sisters. Her funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Parkside Community Church, 210 S. Maple St., Argos. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Dennis Nesbitt Dennis Nesbitt, 66, Rochester, passed away on Jan. 2, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Jerry Lynn Tolson Jerry Lynn Tolson, 67, Argos, died at 12:45 a.m. CST, Jan. 1, 2016, at Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago. Survivors include his wife Linda Tolson, Argos; sons Jeffrey Tolson, Argos, and Benjamin Tolson, Argos; sisters Helen Mullins, Knox, Anna Marie Rudd, Michigan City; brothers James Tolson, North Judson, Raymond Tolson, Knox, Hager Tolson, Knox, Danny Tolson, Florida, and Michael Tolson, Knox. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ, 15676 Michigan Road, Argos. Frances “Joan” Freed Oct. 11, 1923 – Jan. 1, 2016 Frances “Joan” Freed, 92, a lifetime Marshall County resident, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, in the Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth. The daughter of Russell L. and Lucy M. (Coplen) Good, Joan was born in Argos on Oct. 11, 1923. She was a member of the Argos graduating class of 1941. Joan married Ray A. Freed on Oct. 21, 1945. Ray preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1989. To this union two children were born, Stephen and Beverly. Joan had worked as the receptionist for Dr. Peterson, Dr. Guild and Dr. Vore for 23 years, retiring in 1986. She was an active member of the First United Church of Christ in Plymouth, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Mary Martha Circle, and helped many times with the bake sales and cookie walks. She was a member of the Golden Girls, a group of women friends, and an active volunteer at the Marshall County Historical Museum. Among her hobbies, Joan was making items from plastic canvas for her church bazaars. A special thank you to the staff that helped care for Joan, and friends that Joan made at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home. Joan is survived by her son, Stephen and Velma Freed, Plymouth; granddaughters, Angie Comer, Christina (Johnathan) Bednarski, Samantha Freed and Lindsy (Randy) Nichols; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in- law, Eloise Good, Mentone. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Beverly (Jim) Comer, brother Wendell D. Good, and sister Carmen (Herman) Alderfer. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 Dorothy J. Butt Dorothy J. Butt, 85, Peru, died Saturday at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Survivors include her husband Kenneth Butt, Peru; children Teresa Blue, Fifield, Wisc., Christine Meador, Indianapolis, Julia McGinnis, Monticello, Ky., Steven Butt, Mesa, Ariz.; sisters Doris Beck, Peru, and Frances Gochenour, Peru. Her funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Dennis R. Nesbit Dennis R. Nesbit, 66, Rochester died Saturday at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Survivors include his father, Harold Nesbit, Branson, Mo.; children Kristien Ball, Clarkston, Wash., Mike Ward, Rochester, Richard Nesbit, Seattle, Wash., Jerrod Dauenhauer, Tennessee; sister Linda Schmitt, Rochester; and brothers Mike Nesbit, Rochester, and Jeff Nesbit, Fort Ogden, Fla. His funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Wednesday, January 6, 2016 Dennis Nesbit June 28, 1949 - Jan. 2, 2016 Mr. Dennis Richard Nesbit, 66, Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. On June 28, 1949, Dennis was born in Kokomo to Harold and Mildred Jameson Nesbit. Growing up in Howard County, he shared his childhood with a sister and two brothers. Dennis and his family made many memories skiing, fishing and boating across the sparkling waters of Lake Manitou. Patriotism beckoned in 1968, with great pride Dennis answered the call serving our country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1974. He was a member of the Manitou VFW Post # 1343, the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post # 36, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Manitou Moose Family Center. On March 31, 1998, Dennis married Laura Brantley Nesbit in Columbus. Together they shared nearly seven years of life’s adventures till her passing in 2005. Gifted with his hands, Dennis enjoyed working residential construction for his brother Mike. He was accomplished with aspects of plumbing, especially sweating copper. An American sportsman, Dennis loved to fish the waters of Lakes Manitou and Nyona. Armed with his casting rod and tackle box he looked forward to catching the limit of blue gill and bass. He also enjoyed hunting squirrel, rabbit and deer. Dennis is lovingly remembered by his dear friend, Carmi Bickham, Rochester; father Harold Nesbit, Branson, Mo.; a daughter, Kristien Ball, Clarkston, Wash.; three sons, Mike Ward, Rochester, Richard Nesbit, Seattle, Jerrod Dauenhauer, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Kyle Dauenhauer, Jordan Ball, Susan Ball, Alexandria Kostelnic; a sister, Linda Schmitt, Rochester; two brothers, Mike Nesbit and wife Julia, Rochester, Jeff Nesbit, Fort Ogden, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Dennis in death are his dear mother Mildred on Jan. 18, 2009; beloved wife Laura in 2005; and grandparents. A celebration of the life of Dennis Richard Nesbit will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Chaplain Harry Migonis officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the U.S. Marine Honor Guard.
