(Is this the world’s largest green roof?) Creating this 25.4-acre park also fulfilled Burnham’s 1909 plan to extend Grant Park to the north. The gift of a music pavilion from the Pritzker family, however, began a chain reaction that would transform the park from a ho-hum repeat of grass and flowers into a treasure trove of world-class art and architecture including some spectacular steel structures.
