Alumni Curry Favor in Tokyo

Twenty Temple alumni in Japan cooked up a little love on April 29th as part of the 2017 Global Day of Service, organized by the Temple University Alumni Association (TUAA). They joined community-spirited Owls around the world engaged in service projects and other volunteer activities during the month.

The Tokyo Chapter of the TUAA visited Christmas Village, a local children’s home, spending time with the 80 children playing games, doing craft projects, and making curry and rice. The project was organized in conjunction with Hands on Tokyo, a local NPO that promotes active projects to benefit people in need. Ramon Fargas (M.Ed. TESOL) has recently published two high-school Physics booklets in collaboration with colleagues at the Okayama Prefectural Kurashiki Amaki Senior High School, a Japanese super science designated high school (SSH). The booklets provide Japanese-English translations of nouns and verbs commonly used in secondary school Physics, and also include sample sentence structures. A third booklet, with more advanced vocabulary, is currently in progress. The booklets may be combined into a much larger publication in future.

Ramon writes that the booklets, “may be the
