The Kansas City Royals agreed to a three-year deal with Jeremy Guthrie that pays him $5 million on 2013, $11 million in 2014 and $9 million in 2015. He went 8-12 with a 4.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. Bailey went 13-10 with a 3.68 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Latos went 14-4 with a 2.48 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. It’s a bit apples and oranges: Guthrie is a free agent; Bailey is arbitration-eligible for the second time, Latos for the first. But the point is starting pitching — even mediocre starting pitching — is expensive. Affiliated Computer Services Inc., ACS Commercial Solutions Inc., and Livebridge Inc., was filed in December 2009 by four ACS employees. ACS settled on July 12. The employees said ACS had required them to be at work with- out a computer workstation avail- able on which to clock in, and that the company’s manual time cor- rection forms didn’t capture all work time. They also said ACS didn’t pay employees all the bonuses they earned and didn’t correctly calculate overtime pay. The Comptroller’s Office initiated the investigation after current city officials reported questionable transactions executed during the tenure of the former Mayor and his administration. Specifically, allegations pertained to a local professional baseball team as well as inconsistencies with a contract for solid waste collections. The investigation was limited to selected baseball team records for the period June 1, 2011 through October 31, 2019 and solid waste records for the period August 1, 2016 through October 31, 2019. The results of the investigation were communicated with the Office of the District Attorney General of the 26th Judicial District. BACKGROUND The City of Jackson is in Madison County, Tennessee, and is the eighth largest city in the state.
