2015 Event Information
2015 Event Information Event Partners www.BaseballCoachesClinic.com January 2015 Dear Coach, We are excited to welcome you as we celebrate our twelfth year of the Mohegan Sun World Baseball Coaches’ Convention. Beginning with the first clinic in 2004, we have sought to provide you with the very best in coaching education. We want this clinic to be something special and we have spent considerable time securing the best clinicians and designing a curriculum that addresses all levels of play and a range of coaching areas. Each year, we seek to improve your clinic experience and this year we've made two major improvements: we've redesigned the event layout to improve traffic flow and we are introducing an event App for your smartphone or tablet to put critical clinic information at your fingertips. We believe our clinic is more than just three days of coaching instruction; it is a chance to exchange ideas and learn from each other. Our convention staff, exhibitors and guest speakers will be available to you throughout the clinic. Please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself, ask a question or provide your own perspective on the game. A special thanks goes to the staff and management of the Mohegan Sun - our title sponsor - who have welcomed us and allowed us to use their outstanding facilities and amenities. Perfect Alibi Unassailable in Spinaway
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2019 PERFECT ALIBI IF ARLINGTON CLOSES, WHAT HAPPENS TO CHICAGO RACING? UNASSAILABLE IN The Week in Review, T.D. Thornton Anger and betrayal were the prevalent responses from the SPINAWAY WIN Illinois Thoroughbred community in the wake of last week=s stunning announcement by Churchill Downs, Inc., (CDI) that the corporation intentionally missed a racino application deadline and will not seek slots and table games at Arlington International Racecourse after 12 years of teaming with horsemen to finally get the Illinois Gaming Act passed in June. A chief reason cited by CDI in its Aug. 28 press release was the cost burden of having to contribute gaming revenues to purses. CDI=s shocker generated no shortage of accusations that the corporation simply cannot be trusted to put its stewardship of the sport on par with its quest for bottom-line gaming profits. -

WELCOME A Message from the Coach Welcome to JMU baseball. We have three goals here at JMU that we strive for year in and year out. 1. To get a great degree from a great university. The academics at JMU are nationally ranked and a degree from JMU is priceless. 2. To win championships. JMU baseball has a storied tradition and has the highest win- ning percentage in the state of Virginia. Most recently in 2008 and 2011, the Dukes won the CAA championship and played well in the NCAA regionals. We have won many regular season championships and have attended several NCAA tournaments, including 1983 when the Diamond Dukes advanced to the College World Series. JMU was the first university in Virginia to reach Omaha.t 3. To play at the next level. JMU leads the state and the CAA in number of players who have had the opportunity to play professional baseball. JMU has produced 87 players in its 44-year existence who have gone on to play professionally, with 12 of those reaching the Major Leagues. In 2010, we moved into brand- new Veterans Memorial Park. The new state-of-the-art facility houses the entire program and all of its needs, includ- ing locker rooms, training rooms, weight room, team room, study hall area, coaches offices, and indoor workout space. The facility is a tremendous step in the growth of our program. It’s an exciting time for JMU baseball as we continue to take great strides to build our program. Go Dukes!
