SALLY THORNILEY, Executive Secretary November , 1965

OFFICERS

Dear Exhibitor, President David R. Patt Denver Did you miss our convention last year? We know you missed the benefits which might have been reaped from exhibiting there. Vice President Everett McConneff Hntun Because our 1965 convention at the Brown Palace was so successful, we are returning there on February 20, 21 and 22, 1966. The Colorado

DIRECTORS Grain and Feed Dealers convention is actually more regional than state, since delegates and visitors attend from the entire Rocky Mountain Area,

Robert S. Davit as well as Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. Last year the total attendance Col•udo Springs was over 550.

Delbert G. Ellis The Brown Palace Hotel is ideally suited for exhibitors. All convention Otnvw functions will be held on the second floor of the new Brown Palace West building. This tastefully appointed addition is joined to the old his R,.11011 R. Goodwin toric (and sti 11 well maintained) portion of the Brown Palace by means F~gler 11 11 of the bridge , which is an above-the-street level, carpeted, windowed, passage. Thomas P. Hall Akron You wi 11 note on the enclosed layout that all delegates will have to go from the registration desk through the exhibit areas to get to the ball flint Hwdiat room, where the meetings wi 11 be held and the food functions served. Otnwet We wi 11 again have a free coffee booth in this area, where convention delegates will congregate. The world-renowned reputation of the Brown J. E. Kellogg Otnvet Palace, which is a noted convention hotel, made our 1965 convention choice ideal. The facilities and the service were superb. The attend ance was the largest in four years. Clarence Lebsack Sterlina You will be pleased to note on the enclosed convention exhibit layout that our same low prices for space again prevai I. $25.00 cash prizes Richard L. Nfft a,,e1,, will again be awarded to some lucky persons who have visited all of the convention exhibits. To be eligible, delegates wi 11 be required to ob

Paul L Prieb tain the signature of every exhibitor on their exhibit cards. A $25.00 Denver cash prize will also be awarded to the exhibit which attracts the most attention or has the most unusual and outstanding display.

V. L (Bud) Sackett Cope The association has contracted with the Reinbold Convention Service to install the exhibit booths, which are of drapery-covered aluminum frame 1 1 Ch:irlu Sour• work, with an 8 high back wall and 3 high side dividers. They also Rllia supply each booth with a 44. 11 exhibitor's sign, one display table, and one padded chrome chair. These are all included in the space cost. Don C. T•rlor Any additional exhibitor's needs may, of course, be rented directly from Lonv1no111 Reinbold. Guard service is also provided for the safety of the displays.

The hotel wi 11 again offer special room rates for this convention as follows: $11.00 single, $16.00 twin bedroom, and suites from $24.00 to $70. 00.

When choosing your exhibit location preferences, you will need to remember that displays on the bridge are limited to 60 pounds per square foot, while all others may have up to 125 pounds per square foot. The reasons are obvious.

Dear Friends: - FOR: A. R. Cohen

It was roighty nice to receive your letter of December 16 in regard to equipment furnished to you sometime ago. Comments which are complimentary help to offset those which might be in reverse and luckily, we do not have too many of these. Now Mr. Cohen, in regard to the Grain & Feed Dealers Convention in Denver next February, very sorry to say we are fully committed on all the conventions which we will be able to be a part of for the coming year and therefore, must regret on this fine suggestion. We have talked about the Denver convention but we are only abae to plan according to our ability to participate. Our thanks again for the letter and we will certainly keep Denver in mind in future years and no doubt we will 1:e contacted in regard to the dates, etc. And now in closing, our very best wishes to you all for a very Joyous Holidiy season and a real happy and prosperous New Year.

Dear Terry:

Becky and I had to leave the convention Monday afternoon, due to earlier commitments on Tuesday afternoon. We could have left Tuesday morning but the weather forcast did not look good, so left early.

We want you to know how much we enjoyed the convention in Colorado Springs. I don't know how you determine where the meetings will be held from year to year, but I for one would like to see Colorado Springs as your annual choice. The Broadmore is fabulous. I have attended the Feed Manufacturer convention at the Conrod Hilton in Chicago and in my opinion this place does not hold a candle to your natural facilities at the Broadmore. I have attended other State conventions and they all seem rather lacking no~ after being to your Colorado meeting. This was my first time to your Colorado Convention.

If it hadn't been for my meeting Tuesday we would have stayed on until Wednesday to see some of the things we missed seeing. You, in Colorado, should be real proud of your State as I know of no other State that has so much natural beauty.

We enjoyed being with you and Helen Saturday night. I hope we can get to gether again some time. If you ever get in the mood for installing a pellet mill again or remodel your seed cleaning, let me know, as we would be happy to figure your requirements.

I would appreciate you notifying me just what is available and just where, thea, I wile notify you_ in return what roon to reserve for us. Yours truly, Copy, Jack Roderick Wyatt Mfg. Co. Dear Mr. Wier:

We wish to acknowledge your letter of December 11, 1962 relative to your annual convention to be held at the Denver Hilton Hotel February 17-19, 1963.

Inasmuch as the sale of our major items of equipment in the Colorado area is handled by Big Chief of Nebraska, it is not contemplated that we will require exhibit space. According to our last report, our representative intended to reserve exhibit space and we are, with a copy of this letter, reminding them of your deadline in this regard.

We appreciate you reminding us of this matter and it is hoped that our sales representatives wi 11 be in attendance at this meeting.

Dear Mr. Wier:

I want to thank you for your letter of December 29 concerning our possible use of an exhibitor's space at your Colorado Grain and Feed Meeting.

We will be unable to handle an exhibitor space this year, because this meeting is conflicting with our Insurance Association Meetings in Chicago. Normally, this does not happen but once over an extended number of years.

We will probably have one or two of our fieldmen attending your convention, and we will try and see if we cannot set up an educational exhibit and a booth arrangement some time at a future meeting.

We thank you for keeping us in mind.

Dear :Mr. Wier:

We note with interest that your Association is planning their annual meeting to be held in the Brown Palace Hotel, Denver, Colorado, February 21, 22 and 23, 1965 .

We would be interested in knowing if you are planning to permit exhibits in the hotel during your convention and, if so, what space you have available and at what price .

As you may know, we are leasing covered hopper car rail equipment to a number of grain companies some of whom operate in Colorado, and we are considering the idea of exhibiting a scale model of our car to your members during their annual meeting in Denver.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Bob,

Once again our paths cross and may I say it is pleasant to be corresponding with you once again.

Perhaps you don't recall me but I was the area representative for Butler Mfg. Co. for several years and enjoyed several visits with you during that time. I resigned from Butler a little over a year ago and started my own Butler construction firm here in Fort Collins. Because it is so necessary to have materials handling equipment to compliment the Butler tanks, etc., I was appointed the Wyatt Mfg. Co. distributor for all of Colo rado and southern Wyoming.

We haven't been in a position to do very much with the Wyatt line up to now due to our obligations on a local basis for con struction, etc. However, we are looking forward to the conven tion this coming year and will hope to get our Wyatt Sales Pro gram rolling as a result of it.

Will see you about February 20th. Very truly yours,

ANNUAL STATE CONVENTION • February 21-23, 1965 8rown Palace Hotel, Denver New Small Hammermill Slashes Initial Cost To Small Volume Operators A new low-cost hammermill, designed by the Myers-Sherman Company of Streator, Illinois, minimizes in it i a 1 investment costs to operators of small cus tom mills. The Myers-Sherman model #25 hammermill is similar in design to their larger industrial hammermills and uses the same rotor and bearings. However, the body of this new unit is of lighter construction, and the fan is different from the one used in the industrial models. Produced especially for the operator who doesn't need a large volume hammermill with a life-expectancy of 15 to 20 years, this model #25 is avail able for less than half the price of other industrial mills. The mill itself with Stub Hopper, 3 screens, motor coupling and com mon base for mill and motor, costs only $470.00. The mill and 30 H.P. 3600 RPM motor package (TEFC), including dust collector and Eriez magnet, is available for $1285.00. MEMORANDUM

TO: ALL OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS

Gentlemen:

Enclosed are the minutes of the two meetings held by the Board at the convention. We had hoped to have the financial statement and final cohvention income and expense sheet with these minutes, but the National Convention and Bob's present illness have forced us to postpone this until the figures can be gone over more closely.

In Bob's absence I am asking for any help you can give us with the following 1962 advertisers who have either turned us down by letter, or not responded to our correspondence. With the deadltne for any adverti~ing only two weeks away and Bob under the weather, we will need all the help we can get ...
