Those main characters have kind of different characteristics and also have different behavior. In composing this paper, the writer uses the library research by reading some books that relevant to this title or as a source to get some information that can support this title and also by searching on internet. And finally, all characteristics and behaviors from each main character of this novel can be described. Tokoh-tokoh utama tersebut memiliki ciri-ciri yang berbeda dan memiliki sifat yang berbeda juga. Dalam penyusunan kertas karya ini penulis membaca keseluruhan isi novel dan menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan membaca buku yang berhubungan dengan judul ini sebagai sumber untuk mendapatkan beberapa informasi yang bisa mendukung judul ini, juga penelusuran dari internet. Sehingga dapatlah ciri-ciri dan sifat dari masing-masing tokoh utama yang terdapat dalam novel tersebut. Semi (1998: 8) In other words, a literary work contains various ideas, theories, thoughts and expressions of feelings. This whole aspect comes from its author who has an important role in literature created to entertain and benefit people. Entertaining means giving a positive pleasure that can enrich the spiritual, while useful is able to make humans wiser in the face of life. One form of literature is novel. Novel is the result of the imagination of the author. In the novel, an author can pour the life of a character in terms of physical, spiritual, and psychological in accordance with the wishes of the author. There are several elements of the novel builder that determines the storyline, one element is main characters . In this case Semi (1993: 83) states that the reader will know the picture of the character and philosophy of life of his character through the existing characters. Different characters of each character that will affect the story path. Semi (1993: 34) also states that the character is a central idea from beginning to end of a story. Furthermore, Tarigan (1984: 149) suggests that in order to display the characters in a story, the best way is through actions. It is also said by Suharianto (1982:31) that it is through characterization that the reader can clearly capture the human form of his life which is told by the author. Main characters in a novel is very important, because through the character is the story begins, walks, and also ends. Where are the best comic moments? 5. “Sometimes people need to lie to themselves most of all,” the monster tells Conor. In what sense is Conor lying to himself? Is his mother lying to herself? What does each of them need to believe? 6. “This is all sounding pretty fairy tale-ish,” Conor says to the monster. However, the monster’s stories deviate from the traditional fairy tale norm. He was born Walter Milton Myers but after his mom died two years later he was given to Florence and Herbert Dean who lived in Harlem. Mr. Myers life “revolved around his neighborhood and church. The neighborhood protected him and the church guided him.” His speech impediment was often made fun of and he lead with his fists. Mr. Myers wrote Monster ​ in 1999. He was inspired by a boy who was facing trial for a “stick up.” When Myers asked him what his role was in the “stick up,” the boy answered, “I was doing the shooting.” He was switching from 1st to 3rd person and Myers noted that these kids would speak about their lives in 1st person but of their crimes in 3rd person. “They distanced themselves from the crime.” Summary: Monster is a beautiful story that tells us the harsh ​ realities that a black or brown person have to go through when in pursuit of justice. Steve Harmon is a sixteen year old boy who’s on trial for his being “involved in a murder of a drugstore owner.” The trial is set in Harlem and his D.A. believes that since he’s black, race is going to be a factor. Steve narrates the story as a film script, switching scenes or cutting to Steve’s own personal written narratives. His experience with the judicial system is rather optimistic because he knows that he’s not the Monster people are claiming him to be.

    The fault in our stars. “The fault in our stars” is the sixth book by John Green, published in January 2012. John Green also wrote: “Looking for Alaska”, “An abundance of Katherine”, “Paper towns”, “Let it snow”, “Three holiday romance”, “Will Grayson, Will Grayson” and “The fault in our stars”. “The fault in our stars” is a realistic fiction and it is a romantic comedy-drama. Both the book and the movie have won a lot of awards. I have seen the movie and read the book and I think the film is not too far off from the book’s storyline. Hazel Grace Lancaster is a 16 year old teenager that lives in Indianapolis in America, Hazel was diagnosed when she was 12 with thyroid cancer which spread to her lungs. She goes to cancer patient support group and there she meets a 17 year old boy called Augustus Waters, who had cancer in is leg. He lost his leg and his friend, Isaac, is losing his remaining eye because of cancer. Hazel and Augustus start hanging out and get to know each other. Hazel has a favorite book that she has read a thousands times called: “An imperial Affliction” written by Peter Van Houten. Hazel sent an email to Peter looking for answers regarding the book. Peter replied and told her she had to come to Amsterdam if she wanted the answers. Hazel and Augustus traveled to Amsterdam and had a wonderful time until Augustus told Hazel that the cancer came back and he didn´t have long to live.

They are thus drawn into a certain way of thinking, speaking, and acting – as well as into a group or a community. The paper extends ideology theory by arguing that interpellation involves two stages: ‘recognition’ and ‘reaction’. Recognition involves ideology grabbing someone’s attention, and reaction, in turn, refers to that person either accepting or rejecting the ‘call’ of that ideology. The metaphor of interpellation helps make sense of how discourses and ideologies are acquired and spread and how groups and communities form around them. It is also suggested that ideology, in this sense, can inspire fan activism and empower members by making them aware of the possibility to act collectively. Empirically, the interpellative constitution of communities is demonstrated using the case of Nerdfighteria, an activist fan community formed around the YouTube channel Vlogbrothers. Summary The Fault in Our Stars follows the love story between cancer patient Hazel Grace Lancaster and in remission, Augustus Waters. But more importantly, it’s a story on the toll that cancer can have on you and your loved ones. Hazel Grace, the narrator and protagonist, has been taking Phalanxifor, a miracle drug that despite having a low success rate, has been able to prolong her life. After facing many encounters with almost dying, she lives a rightfully bitter life, seeing ​ nothing more than the realism around her that can be seen through the lives of any cancer patient.
