LIEUTENANT COLONEL WILLIE R. RAMSEY, JR. NC STATE PROFESSOR OF MILITARY SCIENCE LIEUTENANT COLONEL WILLIE R. RAMSEY, JR. NC STATE PROFESSOR OF MILITARY SCIENCE LTC Willie Roy Ramsey, Jr., is a native of Independence, Mississippi and graduated from Independence High School in 1995. He enlisted into the military in 1997 as a 31L-cable systems installer. After six years of service, he attended the University of Memphis, in Memphis Tennessee, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and commissioned into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps in 2003. His military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course (CLCC), Intermediate Level Education (ILE), Military Transition Team (MITT), Support Operations Course (Phase I/II), Military History Course, Sexual Assault/Harassment Course (SHARP), SOCC Instructors Training Course, and the Demonstrated Master Logistician Certification. After commissioning, LTC Ramsey was assigned to the Warrior Brigade, 488th Quartermaster Company at Fort Polk, Louisiana; he initially served as Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and culminated as the Commander of 488th Quartermaster Company, where he deployed the company in 2006 to Al Assad, Iraqi for 15 months. During his deployment, the 488th QM Company provided Force Provider services to six remote locations throughout the Al Anbar Province. After attending the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course at Ft. Lee, Virginia in 2008, LTC Ramsey was assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas (2009-2010) where he was assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division Military Transition Team which deployed to Kirkuk, Iraqi; he served as the Brigade S1 to advise, teach, and mentor Iraqi Soldiers. Shortly after his 12 month tour, LTC Ramsey was assigned to the University of Charlotte ROTC Program in Charlotte, North Carolina; he served as the Battalion Executive Officer and Operations Officer for the 49er Battalion consisting of 300 Cadets. Upon completion of his tour at UNC Charlotte (2010-2012), LTC Ramsey was assigned to the 167th Theater Sustainment Command stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama; there he served as the Supply and Services Branch Chief. During his tour, LTC Ramsey was the LNO for 167th TSC during Hurricane Sandy, coordinating the Joint Reception, Staging, Onward movement and Integration (JROSI) for all DoD/FEMA personnel for Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief efforts. After completion of his tour, LTC Ramsey was assigned to Fort Benning, Georgia; there he deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan as the USFOR-A J4 Deputy Chief of Plans. While stationed in Kabul, LTC Ramsey was responsible for the redeployment, retrograde, and material reduction of the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan (CJOA-A) supporting the drawdown of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan. After completing his tour in Afghanistan, LTC Ramsey was assigned to Eighth Army (8A) G35 FUOPS; he served as the Noncombatant Operations Officer (NEO) coordinator for Eighth Army Headquarters, responsible for coordinating and synchronizing all DoD dependents and civilians personnel transportation assets from the peninsula. While assigned to Eighth Army G35, LTC Ramsey attended Intermediate Level Education at the Satellite Command and General Staff College, at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Upon completion of ILE, he was assigned as the Executive Officer of Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion Eighth Army; Seoul, Korea for 24 months. After his tour in Korea, LTC Ramsey was assigned to the 157th INF BDE at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. While assigned at Camp Atterbury, LTC Ramsey was the BDE Executive Officer responsible for coordinating and synchronizing the BDE Staff and 11 Subordinate Battalion Commands training efforts with Compo 1/2/3 (NGB/AGR/RA/) units across multiple surrounding states. LTC Ramsey’s civilian education consist of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Memphis and a Master of Arts in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University. LTC Ramsey’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (3x Campaign Star), Afghan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Parachutist Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. LTC Ramsey and his wife Mandy, are proud parents of three children Landon (10), Zoe` (7), and Braxton (4). .
