Lepidoptera, Sesiidae, endemics, widespread species, macro-ecology, spatial auto-regression, latitudinal gradient, longitudinal gradient, coherence, range size, postglacial colonization Abstract. Although the sizes of the geographical ranges of plant and animal species are of major interest to macroecologists, the spa- tial distributions and environmental correlates of only a small group of animals and plants are well studied. Here data on the spatial distributions of 116 European clearwing moths (Sesiidae) was used to determine the patterns in spatial distribution, postglacial colo- nization and endemism. The spatial distributions of sesiids are significantly more coherent and there are fewer isolated occurrences and unexpected absences than predicted by a random sample null model. After correcting for environmental correlates, islands and mainland countries did not differ significantly in the number of species with small ranges. Polyphagous wood attending species were more widespread than those with other life histories. Species of Siberian origin had wider ranges than those of Mediterranean origin. Nestedness and species co-occurrence analysis did not support a unidirectional postglacial colonization from a Southern European refuge but colonization from both Southern and Eastern Europe.

According to Laštuvka (2001), P bohemica has a two year development, which was also confirmed by my finds. The caterpillars can be found throughout the year. They overwinter the first year at a size of (5) 8-12 mm, during the second overwintering they are almost grown up. I found the caterpillars to be locally distributed and always in small numbers but on numerous, mainly sunny, also on partly shaded microlocalities in forests and at their margins, among light bushes in clearings. It is not difficult to find the caterpillars there on various old bushes of field rose (Rosa arvensis Huds.) and to a much lesser extent on an additional unidentified species of the genus Rosa (Rosaceae), where they cause characteristic deformations or swellings on the basal parts of young, one and two year (rarely three year) shoots.

Key words: Lepidoptera, Sesiidae, world literature.

Fragmentizací dochází ke vzniku bariér, jež zabra ňují genetickému toku v populacích a narušují koloniza ční a disperzní procesy. Vznikají metapopulace, jejichž díl čí populace jsou v prostoru nespojité. Zm ěny krajinné struktury a kvality díl čích fragment ů se odráží v druhové rozmanitosti rostlin i živo čich ů. Popsala jsem metodiku odchytu no čních motýl ů pomocí p řenosných sv ětelných lapa čů .

  • Provisional Checklist of the Sesiidae of the World (Lepidoptera: Ditrysia)
Mitt.Ent.Arb.gem.Salzkammergut 4 1-85 4.12.2004 Provisional checklist of the Sesiidae of the world (Lepidoptera: Ditrysia) Franz PÜHRINGER & Axel KALLIES Abstract: A checklist of Sesiidae of the world provides 2453 names, 1562 of which are currently considered valid taxa (1 family, 2 subfamilies, 10 tribes, 149 genera, 1352 species, and 48 subspecies). Data concerning distribution, type species or type genus, designation, incorrect spelling and emendation, preoccupation and replacement names, synonyms and homonyms, nomina nuda, and rejected names are given. Several new combinations and synonyms are provided. Key words: Sesioidea, systematics, taxonomy, zoogeographic regions. Introduction: Almost 25 years have passed since HEPPNER & DUCKWORTH (1981) published their 'Classification of the Superfamily Sesioidea'. In the meantime great progress has been made in the investigation and classification of the family Sesiidae (clearwing moths). Important monographs covering the Palearctic and Nearctic regions, and partly South America or South-East Asia have been made available (EICHLIN & DUCKWORTH 1988, EICHLIN 1986, 1989, 1995b and 1998, ŠPATENKA et al. 1999, KALLIES & ARITA 2004), and numerous descriptions of new taxa as well as revisions of genera and species described by earlier authors have been published, mainly dealing with the Oriental region (ARITA & GORBUNOV 1995c, ARITA & GORBUNOV 1996b etc.). Therefore, the authors felt the need to provide an updated checklist of the Sesiidae of the world. This list solely aims to summarize the changes in taxonomy and classification of the Sesiidae and to provide a thorough bibliography of relevant literature. An updated version of this list can be found in the Internet (URL: http://members.eunet.at/f.puehringer/checklst.htm).

According to Laøtuvka (2001), P. bohemica has a two year development, which was also confirmed by my finds. The caterpillars can be found throughout the year. They overwinter the first year at a size of 8(5)-12 mm, during the second overwintering they are almost grown up. Caterpillars were not observed on older strongly woody stems. Thick stems of old bushes, isolated undergrowth and groups of bushes outside continuous woodland, open grasslands, and beside fields, roads and railways were examined unsuccessfully.

A total of 33 species, or 71.7 % of the total number of species known for Hungary are presented with more than 170 concrete data, which do not represent a novelty in the fauna of this country. However, some finds will contribute to knowledge of the distribution of some of the rare and lesser known species of the local fauna. Data are presented for the following four counties: Vas, Zala, Somogy and Veszprém, with special emphasis on the poorly studied border area with Slovenia. KEY WORDS : Lepidoptera, Sesiidae, western Hungary, fauna Izvleček – FAVNISTIČNI PODATKI O METULJIH STEKLOKRILCIH (LEPI - DOPTERA: SESIIDAE) ZAHODNE MADŽARSKE Podani so rezultati raziskav steklokrilcev zahodne Madžarske med obdobjem 2007– 2018. KLJUČNE BESEDE : Lepidoptera, Sesiidae, zahodna Madžarska, favna Introduction Forty-six clearwing species have so far been found in Hungary (Fazekas, 2017).
