FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Weinberg’S Upcoming Season to Include Country Icon Craig Morgan Media Contact: Ashley Birdsell Lewis, Manager of Marketing 301-600-2868 | [email protected] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Weinberg’s Upcoming Season to Include Country Icon Craig Morgan FREDERICK, Md., Wednesday, July 5, 2017 — In advance of its complete 2017-2018 season announcement, the Weinberg Center for the Arts revealed today that country music icon Craig Morgan will bring his American Stories Tour to the venue on September 30. Best known for hits like “Bonfire,” “When I’m Gone,” and “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” Morgan will take the stage with patriotic songs and personal stories celebrating American values and the true meaning of home. The performance will begin at 7:00pm and will also feature Mac Powell and Aly Beaird. Tickets begin at $30 and are now on sale to Weinberg Center members. Tickets will become available to the general public on Friday, July 14 at 10am. Tickets may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the Box Office at 301.600.2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick St. For more information about membership and gaining early access to tickets, visit WeinbergCenter.org/Membership. A multi-faceted entertainer, Craig Morgan has made a name for himself as a country music icon, TV host, celebrated outdoorsman, and Army veteran. His newest album, “A Whole Lot More To Me,” was released in June 2016 featuring singles “I’ll Be Home Soon” and “When I’m Gone.” Morgan received one of country music’s highest honors in 2008, when he was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He hosts the award-winning TV show “Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors,” approaching its eighth season on the Outdoor Channel. Prior to becoming a country music and TV star, Morgan spent seventeen years serving in the Army and Army Reserves. He is an avid supporter of America's military personnel and a recipient of the 2006 USO Merit Award. This performance is presented by Operation Finally Home and 99.9 WFRE Free Country.     Deana Carter DEANA CARTER, the daughter of famed studio guitarist and producer Fred Carter, Jr., grew up surrounded by musical greats, including Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings, and Simon & Garfunkel. She developed her songwriting skills at writer’s nights throughout Nashville, but her real break came when one of her demo tapes fell into the hands of Willie Nelson, who remembered Deana as a child. Impressed with how she’d grown as a songwriter, Nelson asked Deana to perform along with John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson, and Neil Young, as the only female solo artist to appear at Farm Aid VII in 1994. Her 1996 debut album Did I Shave My Legs for This? quickly climbed to the top of both the country and pop charts, quickly achieving multi-platinum status. "Strawberry Wine,” the first single from the album, was awarded CMA's 1997 Single of the Year. Seven albums and a decade later, Deana is still writing and producing for both the pop/rock and country markets when not on the road touring. Her superstar success continues to be evident. Her chart topper “You & Tequila,” co-written with Matraca Berg and recorded by Kenny Chesney, was nominated in 2011 as CMA’s “Song of the Year” and received two Grammy nods. Sounds fancy don’t you think? We’re just glad you’re still reading our newsletter and still being the loyal fans that you are. You are why I get to sing for my living. I never forget that and I always appreciate you. The band and I have been enjoying our shows more than ever since we had to go so long without being able to sing for you. We’ve also been fortunate to get back onto the Opry stage. We truly enjoy the family atmos- phere that you can feel at the Opry so we go as often as we can and in fact, our next appearance is Friday, August 27th. I’m not sure what songs we’ll sing yet but I expect we’ll be on close to 7PM since we’ll have to head right out to get on the road to Winchester, OH. Another exciting thing is the new music in the works. I plan to get back to the studio in a couple of weeks and that has kept me busy, working on song selections and more. It always takes far longer than I expect to get everything done after the recording sessions are finished. All that licensing and stuff that I’m glad to turn over to other people takes time, then there’s getting artwork approved and more. I’ll just have to let you know as its coming along what we expect the release date will be.
