1998 MOREHEAD STATE UNIVERSfl'YTM Steve Hamilton 1934-1997 Steve Hamilton, a student-athlete, coach and adminis­ trator at Morehead State University, died on Dec. 2, 1997, after a courageous l 0-month battle with cancer. He was an All-American player and standout base­ ball player and track athlete while a student at MSU. He earned two degrees from the University. Following his collegiate career, he played both professional and professional basketball and became one of only two indi­ viduals to play in both a World Series (New York Yan­ kees) and an NBA Championship Series (Minneapolis Lakers) . At the conclusion of his professional baseball career, he returned to his chosen hometown of Morehead, Ky., and served as MSU's baseball coach for 14 seasons, becoming the Eagles' all-time winningest coach. At the time of his death, he was in his 11th year as Director of Athletics. Steve and his wife Shirley had two sons and two daughters. Both sons, Bobby and Dan, were also Eagle baseball players. Larry Lipker Assistant Coach Larry Lipker is in his second season as an assistant coach at Morehead State. A native of Ashland, Ky., Lipker was an outstanding athl ete at Paul Blazer High School, lettering in baseball, basketball and wrestling. He was a standout baseball player at Campbellsville University, serving as captain of the team as a senior and concluding his career ranked in Campbellsville's top IO in strike outs, appearances, wi ns and . Lipker was an assistant coach at Campbellsville in I 9?4- 95 and was an assistant coach at Spencer County High School in 1995-96. He earned a bachelor's degree from Campbellsvil le in 1993 and a master's degree from MSU in December. Lipker is married to the former Feli cia Dawn Welch of Bardstown, Ky.

In addition to the comfortable seating fo r spectators, Allen Field has dressi ng rooms for each team which lead directly to the dugouts. The home team's dressing area includes carpeting, showers and lockers. Al so a 2,000 square foot indoor hitting/pitching faci lity is located adjacent to Allen Field . The Coach's offi ce is also housed in the stadium, as are a concession stand, training room, dressing rooms tor coaches and umpires, and public restrooms. The stadium press box can accommodate IO people comfortably. The outfield fence is 24 feet high from the ri ght field line to center fi eld. The distances to the fences are 330 feet down the left field line and 345 feet down the ri ght line. The right-center field power alley is 335 feet and the left-cemer power all ey is 378 feet. The deepest part of the outfield is in left-center fi eld, where it measures 398 feet from home plate. Straightaway center field is 375 feet.
