Communications Audi Tradition Peter Kober Spokesman Communications Audi Tradition Tel: +49 841 89-39628 e-mail: [email protected] www.audi-mediaservices.com Two Audi anniversaries at the Techno Classica Audi introduced its Audi V8 model 25 years ago, its historic associate company Horch built its first car with a V8 engine 80 years ago More than 180,000 visitors expected at the world’s largest classic car fair Ingolstadt, April 5, 2013 – Audi Tradition is celebrating not one but two anniversaries at the Techno Classica in Essen (April 10 to 14). In Hall 7 of the world’s largest classic car fair, the brand with the four-ring emblem is displaying examples from the history of its V8 engines. 80 years have elapsed since Audi’s associate company Horch exhibited the new 830 model at the Berlin Motor Show, powered by that company’s first V8 engine. 25 years later the Audi V8 went into production and represented a milestone in Audi’s history – access to the premium segment of the market. Ample space for history: the Historical Department of AUDI AG has a 700 square metre stand in Hall 7. Members of the Audi Club International (ACI) are displaying other cars that bear witness to the company’s history in Hall 7.1. This gives the four- ring emblem two attractive meeting points for visitors to the world’s largest classic car fair. In 1933, when Auto Union introduced the first Horch with a V8 engine, it reflected know-how from the USA. But the company developed this V8 according to its own principles: one that we would today regard as a high-performance engine with the appropriate sound, although the company’s motives were in fact different.

The high-performance sedan features numerous innovations, delivering top performance on both road and track. The Audi RS 4 continues the tradition of quattro GmbH in bridging the gap between motorsport and everyday motoring. It is a car that combines emotional and functional perfection, meeting all the demands made by the driver of a high-performance car in general and an Audi in particular in today’s motoring world. At Audi, the “RS” abbreviation stands for unmatched performance ability, technological innovation, motorsports pedigree, and thrilling driving dynamics. At the heart of the RS 4 lies the high-revving 420-hp naturally-aspirated V8 engine featuring FSI direct injection technology, which was first proved out in the Le Mans-winning Audi R8 race car. The RS 4 features the latest generation of the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system with asymmetric/dynamic torque distribution. Under normal driving circumstances, 40 percent of the power is sent to the front wheels and 60 percent to the rear. This new asymmetrical torque split quattro system is key to achieving the RS 4’s sporty driving dynamics, yet it ensures that Audi’s legendary all-weather traction and sure-footed handling ability remains.

Ingolstadt, 12 March 2006 Motorsport / 28 days until the start of 2006 DTM season From the Audi V8 quattro to the Audi A4 DTM • Audi is one of the most successful brands in the DTM When the new DTM series starts at Hockenheim on April 9th, there will be a small anniversary to celebrate: 2006 marks Audi’s tenth year of contesting the most AUDI AG popular international touring car racing series. Four champion’s titles, 35 victories, Kommunikation 85045 Ingolstadt 30 pole positions and 26 fastest race laps make Audi one of the most successful www.audi.com brands in DTM history. At its first appearance in the DTM Audi immediately left a lasting impression. In the Audi V8 quattro, a vehicle derived from the production version, Hans-Joachim Stuck clinched the title for Ingolstadt in the brand’s debut year of 1990 straight away, owing – last not least – to the superior quattro drive. 1991 saw Frank Biela triumphant, thus making Audi the first manufacturer to manage a successful defence of the title. In the 2004 season, when Audi made its comeback to the series as a manufacturer, Mattias Ekström in the A4 DTM yet again claimed the championship straight away. The fourth DTM title on Audi’s track record was captured by Team Abt Sportsline, which had been entering the Abt-Audi TT-R from 2000 to 2003 as an Audi customer team, winning the championship with Laurent Aiello in 2002. In each of Audi’s four champion’s years the closest rival in the fight for the DTM crown was Mercedes-Benz – and in the 2006 season Germany’s two leading automobile manufacturers will again be fighting for the prestigious title.

Donau, May 13, 2019 – Following the spectacular start to the new turbo era, DTM fans can already look forward to the next treat: this weekend (May 18/19), the popular touring car racing series is returning to its roots at Zolder, Belgium. The four-kilometer race track near Hasselt is regarded as highly challenging. Local hero Robin Frijns, who lives in Lanaken, only about a 20-minute drive from the venue, calls the circuit: “Mini Nordschleife – just a small mistake and you’ll end up in the wall.” René Rast refers to it as an awe-inspiring “journey into the unknown.” “None of us can really judge what it will be like to drive a DTM car at Zolder.” Mike Rockenfeller most recently contested a race there seventeen years ago. Loïc Duval, Jamie Green and Nico Müller only know the circuit from the simulator. 35 years ago, on March 11, 1984, Zolder hosted the first DTM race in history – then still officially called the “Deutsche Produktionswagen-Meisterschaft” (“German Production Car Championship”). At that time, Duval and Green were both only one year old, Rockenfeller was four months old, while Frijns, Müller and Rast had not even been born yet.

  • Six Strong Drivers – a “Dream Team”
Audi in the 2004 DTM Six strong drivers – a “dream team” The last works involvement by AUDI AG in the DTM dates back more than ten years: Between 1990 and 1992, the Audi V8 quattro had the measure of everything in the German Touring Car Championship, at that time Audi won the DTM title twice in succession. In 2002, the Audi customer team Abt Sportsline won another DTM championship for Audi with the compact Coupé based on the Audi TT. As for the works re-entry to the 2004 DTM is concerned, the target for the sporting premium marque is almost self-explanatory: “We want to fight for the title,” reads the motto of Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Sport. The basis required for this is created at Audi Sport in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, where the DTM race version of the Audi A4 is developed. At the same time, Dr Ullrich has assembled a really high-caliber team, recruited from proven members of the successful Audi sportscar programme and DTM-experienced staff. The Audi driver line-up for the 2004 DTM is also a spectacular mix of the marque’s current sportscar and touring car drivers – forming a real “dream team”. Christian Abt (36), German Super Touring Car Champion from 1999, the former Swedish Touring Car Champion Mattias Ekström (25) and former junior Martin Tomczyk (21) already competed in the DTM for Team Abt Sportsline. The 2002 DTM championship winning team is completed by the five-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen (36). “Europe’s most demanding touring car series is a great challenge,” says the Dane.
