Atlantic species of Stosicia Brusina, 1878, was described by C.B. Adams (1850). Only after a century a second species was discovered (Sleurs, 1996). More recently, Espinosa & Ortea (2002) described another species. Lee (2003) discussed the taxonomy, zoogeography, and evolution of Stosicia Brusina, 1878, in the western Atlantic. Here we reconsider material collected in Caribbean Honduras, which he referred to S. houbricki Sleurs, 1996. These specimens belong to one more new species, i.e. Stosicia garciai spec. nov. The differential diagnoses of this taxon and its three western Atlantic congeners are presented. Ultrastructural features revealed by the SEM are reported for the first time. Shells are being considered here as shell-bearing mollusks of the Gastropoda, Bivalvia and Scaphopoda. And the region covered is not only the Red Sea, but also the Gulf of Aden, including Somalia, and the Suez Canal, including Lessepsian species. Literature on fossils finds, especially from the Pliocene, Pleistocene and Holocene, is listed too. Introduction My interest in recent shells from the Red Sea dates from about 1996. Since then, I have been, now and then, trying to obtain information on this subject. Recently I decide to stop gathering information in a haphazard way and to do it more properly. This resulted in a survey of approximately 1,420 references (Van Gemert, 2010). Since then, this survey has been enlarged considerably and contains now approximately 2,100 references. They are presented here. Scope In principle every publication in which mollusks are reported to live or have lived in the Red Sea should be listed in the survey. This means that besides primary literature, i.e. articles in which researchers are reporting their finds for the first time, secondary and tertiary literature, i.e. reviews, monographs, books, etc are to be included too. These publications were written not only by a wide range of authors ranging from amateur shell collectors to profesional malacologists but also by people interested in other fields. This implies that not only malacological journals and books should be considered, but also publications from other fields or disciplines, such as environmental pollution, toxicology, parasitology, aquaculture, fisheries, biochemistry, biogeography, geology, sedimentology, ecology, archaeology, Egyptology and palaeontology, in which Red Sea shells are mentioned.

Y. Low Abstract. An annotated checklist of the Mollusca from the Australian Indian Ocean Territories (IOT) of Christmas Island (Indian Ocean) and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands is presented. The checklist combines data from all previous studies and new material collected during the recent Christmas Island Expeditions organised by the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (formerly the Raffles Museum of Biodiversty Resarch), Singapore. The checklist provides an overview of the diversity of the malacofauna occurring in the Cocos (Keeling) / Christmas Island ecoregion. A total of 1,178 species representing 165 families are documented, with 760 (in 130 families) and 757 (in 126 families) species recorded from Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, respectively. Forty-five species (or 3.8%) of these species are endemic to the Australian IOT. Fifty-seven molluscan records for this ecoregion are herein published for the first time. We also briefly discuss historical patterns of discovery and endemism in the malacofauna of the Australian IOT. Key words. The number of rissoinine species has been estimated between 29 and 31, of which the vast majority occurs in the tropical part of the eastern Pacific. The Galapagos Islands and Guadalupe Island have a very impoverished rissoinine fauna. Faunal affinities of the eastern Pacific Rissoininae with the Atlantic and Indo-Pacific fauna are discussed. Key words : Rissoininae, eastern Pacific, zoogeography, checklist. INTRODUCTION As part of a review of the species of the Rissoininae, currently in progress, the rissoinine faunas of the eastern Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean were revised. This allows some conclusions on the distribution and species composition of the Rissoininae of the eastern Pacific and on the affinities with the Atlantic and Indo-Pacific rissoinine fauna. A systematic review of the eastern Pacific rissoinine species will be presented in a fort coming paper. MATERIAL AND METHODS The rissoinine material on which this study is based, is in the « Los Angeles County Museum », in the « Koninklijk Belgisch Instituut voor Natuurwetenschap­ pen », Brussels, in the « United States National Museum », Washington and in the « Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia ».
