Memorial Coliseum – Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 Team 1Q 2Q 3Q 4Q Final UCLA 7 7 14 7 35 USC 10 14 14 14 52 • With the 52-35 win today, USC improved to 8-4 (7-2) and UCLA fell to 4-7 (4-4). • USC closed the regular season by winning 3 consecutive games and has won five of its last 6 games. • USC is 16-5 in the last 21 games against UCLA. USC has won 10 of its last 11 home games against UCLA. • USC’s 52 points were its most against UCLA since scoring 66 in 2005 (W, 66-19). It was also the most points scored by USC in any game since scoring 52 vs. Penn State on Jan. 2, 2017 in the Rose Bowl (W, 52-49). • The combined 87 points in the game today tied for the most ever in the USC-UCLA series in a regulation game. The teams also combined for 87 points in 1990, a 45-42 USC win. The most points overall in a game in the series were 89 points in a 48-41 double-overtime win by UCLA in 1996. • USC is now 48*-32-7 all-time against UCLA (not including 2 wins vacated due to NCAA penalty, original record 50-32-7). • Fr. QB Kedon Slovis set the school record today with 515 passing yards. He also tied the school record with 37 completions, tying the record of J.T. Daniels (37 on Nov. 24, 2018 vs. Notre Dame). His passing yard total is also the most by any QB for either school all-time in the USC-UCLA series. Slovis extended his school record with his 4th game with 400 or more yards in a single season. It also tied Matt Barkley for the most 400-yard passing games in a USC career. • Slovis had 4 TD passes today, his third consecutive game with 4 TD passes and 4th of the season • Slovis completed 37 of 47 passes today for a .787 completion percentage. He entered the game 8th nationally in competion percentage at .708. • USC set a school record with 4 pass catchers going over 100 receiving yards in the same game (Drake London – 142, Amon-Ra St. Brown – 128, Tyler Vaughns – 106 and Michael Pittman – 104). • Sr. WR Michael Pittman tied a career best with 13 catches for 104 yards today. It was his fourth game this season with 10 or more catches and fifth with 100 or more receiving yards. Pittman had 2 receiving touchdowns today to give him 20 all-purpose touchdowns in his career. The 2 touchdowns today matched a career high. It is his third game this season and fifth of his career with 2 touchdowns. • Fr. WR Drake London had career high with 8 receptions and 142 receiving yards…he also had a TD catch, his 4th of the season and 4th consecutive game with a TD catch. • Rs.-Jr. WR Tyler Vaughns had 6 catches for 106 yards and a TD today. It was his 4th 100-yard receiving game of the season and 7th of his career. • So. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown had 8 catches for 128 yards today. It was his 3rd 100-yard receiving game of the season and 4th of his career. The 8 receptions tied his season high, done 4 times. • Rs.-Jr. TB Vavae Malepeai, in his first game since Oct. 12 at Notre Dame, had 10 carries for 60 yards and 2 TDs. He had his first TD since week 3 vs. BYU with a 1-yard plunge in the first quarter. He added an 8-yard scamper in the third quarter to give him a team-leading 6 TD runs this season. His 2-TD game matches a career high done four times, second time this season (vs. Arizona). • So. S Talanoa Hufanga had a career-best 18 tackles today. His 18 tackles were the most in a game by a Trojan since Troy Polamalu had 20 vs. Utah on Dec. 25, 2001 in the Las Vegas Bowl. • Rs.-So. S Isaiah Pola-Mao had a career-high 12 tackles today. • Fr. CB Isaac Taylor-Stuart had his first career interception in the first quarter today when he picked off Dorian Thompson-Robinson at the Trojans’ own 17-yard line. • After having been outscored 68-28 in the last 6 second quarters, USC outscored UCLA 14-7 in the second quarter today. USC led 24-14 at the half. The 24 first-half points ties for the second-most points USC has scored in a first half this season (28 at ASU and 24 vs. Stanford). • USC held UCLA running back Joshua Kelley to 49 yards on 15 carries. Kelley entered the game averaging 104.3 rushing yards per game. In last season’s USC-UCLA game, Kelley had 289 yards rushing on 40 carries. • USC’s 643 total yards were its most in a game since registering 737 vs. Idaho in 2015. • USC had 34 first downs today, the third time this season with 30 or more and the most by the Trojans in a game since having 35 vs. Idaho in 2015. UCLA GAME NOTES at USC – Nov. 23, 2019 USC 52, UCLA 35 *The 87 combined points between UCLA and USC are the most in the crosstown series since the teams totaled 89 points in a 48-41 double overtime victory by UCLA in 1996. *The winning team has scored at least 30 points in 8 of the last 9 meetings between UCLA and USC. *The Bruins have scored points on 8 of the 11 opening drives this season. *Joshua Kelley, who rushed for 45 yards today, is just 16 yards away from becoming the 8 th UCLA running back to post back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He currently has 984 yards in 2019 and 2,227 career rushing yards (15th all-time at UCLA). *Kelley, who scored on a fourth quarter rush versus USC, has now rushed for at least one touchdown in six of the last seven games. He is just shy of joining the school single-season top 10 list for touchdowns with 12 in 2019. Tied for ninth are John Sciarra (1975) and Gary Beban (1965) who each had 14. *Devin Asiasi’s 53-yard scoring reception was his fourth touchdown pass of the season. He added 36-yard and 22-yard receptions in the fourth quarter for his 12 th and 13 th career receptions of at least 20 yards and sixth and seventh 20-yard catches of 2019. He also registered the first 100-yard receiving game of his career, finishing with a team-high 141 yards. *Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s total offensive yardage of 431 yards was the second-best effort by a Bruin player against the Trojans, falling just shy of Tommy Maddox’s 445-yard performance in 1990. His 367 passing yards rank as the fourth- most by a Bruin quarterback in the series, surpassed only by Josh Rosen’s 421 in 2017, Tommy Maddox’s 409 in 1990 and John Barnes’ 385 in 1992. *Thompson-Robinson’s three scoring passes are the second-highest single-game total of his career (most was 5 at Washington State). It is the seventh multi-score passing game of 2019 for the sophomore. *Thompson-Robinson had a career-high 44 passing attempts in the game. His previous high was 38 attempts at Washington State in 2019 and vs. Washington in 2018. *With 26 completions today, Thompson-Robinson has moved into No. 13 on the UCLA single-season completions list with 193 this season. *After recording 431 yards of total offense today, Thompson-Robinson has moved into 12 th on UCLA’s single-season total offense list with 2,655 in 2019. Thompson-Robinson ranks 15 th with 4,034 career total offense yards. *WR Kyle Philips registered his second 100-yard receiving yards game of the season (100 at Stanford) with career-high numbers in catches (12) and yards (123) against the Trojans. He has 50 catches in the last 8 games. *The Bruins’ total of three sacks in today’s game against the Trojans upped the season total to 27, which is the most by a UCLA team since it had 28 in 2015. *Darnay Holmes finished with a career-high 10 tackles. He matched his previous career-best with seven in the first half of play. *Stephan Blaylock led the team with a career-high 11 tackles. *JJ Molson, with 300 points, rates seventh on the all-time school scoring list, one point away from No. 6 Bjorn Merten, who has 301. Molson has connected on 90 straight extra points.
