POSITION OVERVIEW The Healthcare Technical Writer documents the content and logic (no coding or graphic design) for our new and existing health/wellness web applications. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining the content and documentation of our interactive products in collaboration with our UI/UX specialists and Software Applications Developers. This broad range of tasks includes reviewing medical research and literature, requirement generation, content and use case development/maintenance, logic flow, and QA. We are seeking a dedicated, talented, passionate, and knowledgeable medical/technical writer who is capable of producing and maintaining excellent documentation for our interactive applications. You will be a part of our Design team and report to our Product Development Lead. You will also assist the programming team as they execute the designs, including QA of the final products. This position requires competence in a broad range of content-related duties. You must be an excellent writer and editor with experience in writing for consumers utilizing best practices for health literacy. You should be familiar with basic software development concepts, worked in high-production environments, and be obsessively attentive to detail. The ideal applicant will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills, independent self-direction, and an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: § Participate in gathering requirements and project definition activities § Participate in discussions with specialists and medical content experts § Assist in preliminary content flow and basic information architecture development § Write low-literacy health topic content Medicom Health Interactive | 111 Third Avenue South, Suite 400 | Minneapolis, MN 55401 | www.medicomhealth.com | +1 (800) 971-0785 CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (cont.) § Develop & maintain comprehensive software documentation for clients, marketing, and QA, including references and citations for medical claims § Review deployed software products for accuracy and enhancements § Execute product and design revisions, including logic diagrams & flow charts § development materials against existing documentation § Participate in all Design Team group meetings on cross-functional tasks and ideation on new dev projects § Stay abreast of medical news to identify impact on products & processes § Serve as internal content expert for presentations for various audiences § Perform other duties as assigned including meetings, training, and administrative tasks. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: § Instructional design skill and knowledge of adult learning principles § Strong technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills § Knowledge of Internet design/development concepts § Understanding of arithmetic, algebra, & statistics, and their applications. § Knowledge of and ability to learn typical digital content management tools § Knowledge of biological systems, scientific terms, and medical concepts § Organizational and problem solving skills, with the ability to learn and adapt new skills § Ability to communicate and work individually and as a team member § Ability to prioritize work on simultaneous projects and deadlines § Creative problem solving with attention to detail/accuracy and comfort with ambiguity § Critical-thinker who understands the interplay of various parts of a system § Positive attitude, able to handle feedback QUALIFICATIONS: § Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Medical, Technical Communication or Education-related field from four- year college or university; or equivalent related experience § 1 year designing and writing content for interactive media § 2 years instructional design or technical communication design experience § 2 years working with medical content BENEFITS & COMPENSATION: • Salary commensurate with experience • Full benefits package and eligible for company performance bonus • Eligible for employee stock option program Are you a good fit for this position? • Send an email to [email protected]. • Attach your cover letter, resume and any additional related documents or portfolios that are appropriate.
