Critical Reception Professional RatingsReve ratingSource:AllMusic27Clash Music9/10'43BillboardFavorable 4'Love Yourself: Response Received Positive Reviews from Critics. Nemo Kim of the South China Morning Post gave the album four stars out of five and said, BTS rappers show their chops on solo tracks, the band sends a message to Korean youth about love for themselves, and the single Idol sees them inveterate traditional clothing and mix pop with ancient percussion as Minaj joins, praising the album as a cement place of BTS as kings of the genre. In a positive review, Taylor Glasby of Clash magazine described the album's narrative as an image of the fears, mistakes and thoughts we inflict on ourselves that remain acutely relativistic. She also said that the narrative serves to remind us that everyone has to make their own way, and there is no one size fits all response to achieving self-acceptance. However, for Answer: Love Myself, the track that completes the narration on the album, Glasby felt that he was lyrically superior, although playing instrumental too safely. Tamar Herman of Billboard praised the album, calling it the masterful culmination of many years of work and replete with meaning, the answer is undoubtedly a magnum opus from BTS that few other artists, boy bands or otherwise can ever hope to achieve.
