Volume XXV No. 25 Hometown Newspaper for Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Glenwood, Locust Valley and Brookville Week of 3/3/16 75C Glen Cove Officials Recognize GCPD Officer Brian Miller’s Promotion to Sergeant In front of his family, colleagues and friends from the Glen Cove Senior Center, Glen Cove Police Officer Brian Miller was recognized by Mayor Reggie Spinello, Police Chief William Whitton and Glen Cove City Council members for his promotion to Sergeant. “It is an honor to acknowledge the achievements of a man whose dedication to our community has been exemplary,” said Mayor Spinello. “Based on a need that Mayor Spinello and I pinpointed to help Glen Cove seniors, Brian was appointed as the police liaison to our Senior Center as part of his varied GCPD responsibilities,” said Chief Whitton. “It is an honor to promote PO Miller to Sergeant as I believe his skills and experience will provide valuable contributions to our police leadership team.” Joining Sgt. Miller at his promotion ceremony was his wife Jenna, father Jack who is Commissioner of Police for Kings Park and members of the Glen Cove Police Department and PBA. The members were greeted by Georgie Connett, President of the Museum and Amy Driscoll, Museum Director. The North Shore Historical Museum, located in Glen Cove, seeks to preserve the history of the North Shore of Long Island. The Museum hosts exhibitions, lectures and other programs related to the North Shore. Following the tour, the IAC held its monthly meeting at The Atria, Glen Cove, located adjacent to the museum. Jennifer Amarante, Executive Director of The Atria provided on overview of the senior living community and treated IAC members to a delicious breakfast. Deasy Students Celebrate 100 Days Deasy School first-graders took part in an exercise activity that featured jumping jacks, pushups and burpees when they recently commemorated the 100th day of school. The exercises were led by first-grade teacher Steve Bromberg and included students completing 10 sets of 10 different exercises, as they counted aloud. They were honored for their second quarter grades, attendance, work ethic and preparedness. Students of the Quarter also have taken the initiative on class projects and are role models for all students both at school and during internship assignments.
