With regards to long-term consequences, biomarkers of physiological effects as well as the psychological experiences are of significant importance for comprehensively understanding the whole COVID-19 recovery period. The present research surveys the IgG antibody titers and the impact of COVID-19 as a traumatic experience in the aftermath of the active infection period, around two months after diagnosis, in a subset of COVID-19 patients from the first wave of the outbreak in Northern Cyprus. Associations of antibody titers and psychological survey measures with baseline characteristics and disease severity were explored, and correlations among various measures were evaluated. Of the 47 serology tests conducted for presence of IgG antibodies, 39 (83%) were positive. We identified trends demonstrating individuals experiencing severe or critical COVID-19 disease and/or those with comorbidities are more heavily impacted both physiologically and mentally, with higher IgG titers and negative psychological experience compared to those with milder disease and without comorbidities. -

Netcat − network connections made easy A lot of the shell scripting I do involves piping the output of one command into another, such as: $ cat /var/log/messages | awk '{print $4,$5,$6,$7,$8,$9,$10,$11,$12,$13,$14,$15}' | sed −e 's/\[[0−9]*\]:/:/' | sort | uniq | less which shows me the system log file after removing the timestamps and [12345] pids and removing duplicates (1000 neatly ordered unique lines is a lot easier to scan than 6000 mixed together). The above technique works well when all the processing can be done on one machine. What happens if I want to somehow send this data to another machine right in the pipe? For example, instead of viewing it with less on this machine, I want to somehow send the output to my laptop so I can view it there. Ideally, the command would look something like: $ cat /var/log/messages | awk '{print $4,$5,$6,$7,$8,$9,$10,$11,$12,$13,$14,$15}' | sed −e 's/\[[0−9]*\]:/:/' | sort | uniq | laptop That exact syntax won't work because the shell thinks it needs to hand off the data to a program called laptop − which doesn't exist. There's a way to do it, though. Enter Netcat Netcat was written 5 years ago to perform exactly this kind of magic − allowing the user to make network connections between machines without any programming. Let's look at some examples of how it works. Let's say that I'm having trouble with a web server that's not returning the content I want for some reason. -

An Affiliate of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities 820 First Street NE, Suite 460 Washington, DC 20002 (202) 408-1080 Fax (202) 408-8173 www.dcfpi.org February 27, 2009 DC HOMEOWNERS’ PROPERTY TAXES REMAIN LOWEST IN THE REGION By Katie Kerstetter This week, District homeowners will receive their assessments for 2010 and their property tax bills for 2009. The new assessments are expected to decline modestly, after increasing significantly over the past several years. The new assessments won’t impact homeowners’ tax bills until next year, because this year’s bills are based on last year’s assessments. Yet even though 2009’s tax bills are based on a period when average assessments were rising, this analysis shows that property tax bills have decreased or risen only moderately for many homeowners in recent years. DC homeowners continue to enjoy the lowest average property tax bills in the region, largely due to property tax relief policies implemented in recent years. These policies include a Homestead Deduction1 increase from $30,000 to $67,500; a 10 percent cap on annual increases in taxable assessments; and an 11-cent property tax rate cut. The District also adopted a “calculated rate” provision that decreases the tax rate if property tax collections reach a certain target. As a result of these measures, most DC homeowners have seen their tax bills fall — or increase only modestly — over the past four years. In 2008, DC homeowners paid lower property taxes on average than homeowners in surrounding counties. Among homes with an average sales price of $500,000, DC homeowners paid an average tax of $2,725, compared to $3,504 in Montgomery County, $4,752 in PG County, and over $4,400 in Arlington and Fairfax counties. -
