Division at a Glance: Khurda Road Division also known as the Sun Rise Division, is the one of the three divisions of East Coast Zone , Having 105 station, in which 98 are in State and 7 are in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, spanning over 912.53 route kilometers and 2243.17 track kilometers. The 105 stations are further classified as 79 “B” Class, 05 “C” Class and 21 Special Class (34 passenger halts, 1 Flag Station and 29 IBSS). All the block stations are equipped with PI/EI/RRI with multi aspect colour light (MACL) signaling System. Also the judicious end with four interchanging points Viz., Palasa with Waltair Division, Ranital Link Cabin with Kharagpur Division, with Chakradharpur Division and with Division. The division mainly serves Steel Industries, Thermal Power Stations with Coal and Iron Ore, from Thermal Colliery, Imported Coal from Ports & Iron Ore mines located in Nayagarh area Further, finished and semi-finished products from Steel Plants, Petroleum products from HPCL/IOCL (), Fertilizer from IFFCO, PPL, raw materials for steel plants except iron ore from Ports also being mainly carried by this division. 1.Outward Traffic: 1.1 Commodity wise Loading: During 2017-18, Division has loaded 117.88 Miliion Tonnes of freight, Consists of Coal-84.24 MT, Iron Ore-13.08MT, Finished Steel-7.76MT, Raw Materials-3.77MT,Fertilzer-2.69MT, Mineral Oil-1.22MT, High rated Container Traffic-0.49MT, Cement-0.20MT,Food Grains- 0.09MT, Other Goods-4.34MT.

Loading 2018-19(Upto Aug):Division had loaded 49.39 Million Tonnes of freight as aginest 48.41 Million Tonnes during last year(upto Aug) , 2% growth has been recorded. The loading mainly consists of Coal-36.18 MT, Iron Ore-4.85 MT, Finished Steel-3.32 MT, Raw Materials- 1.53MT,Fertilzer-0.94MT, Mineral Oil-0.36MT, High rated Container Traffic-0.48MT, Cement- 0.11MT,Food Grains-0.02MT, Other Goods-1.60MT. 1.2 Revenue Loading performance of Khurda Road division: Goods earning during 2017-18 is Rs. 9743.4 Crores which is everbest during a session also earnings upto Aug’18 is 3863 crores , from Talcher(TLHR) the earnings is 1688 crores, Paradeep(PRDP)-875 crores, Dhamara(DPCB)-413 crores, Nayagarh(NYG)-248 crores, Meramandali(MRDL)-317 crores, TSLJ/Jakhapura-139 crores, JSLS/Sukinda-28 crores and from other terminal 155 crores.

Besides originating traffic, several through loads are being run on the division with majority of trains running with CC+8/CC+6 and 25T. 4.Coaching Operations: There are 116 pairs of Mail Express trains, 23 pairs of passenger trains and 11 Premier (MR) trains are running across the division in which 67 pairs of Mail Express and 23 pairs of passengers are originating, meeting the passenger needs . Coaching depots are situated at and Bhubneswar. 5.UPDATED TECHNOLOGY USE: FOIS,COIS CMS AND Data Logger: Freight Operation Information System (FOIS) is installed at all loading and unloading points of the division for monitoring freight trains. Coaching Operation Information System (COIS) is installed at , Puri and In coaching cell of control office for monitoring coaching train operations. Crew Management System (CMS) is installed at Khurda Road, Talcher, Paradeep, Bhadrak, Palasa, Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jakhapura, Kendijhargarh and Angul. Data Logger: Data logger is microprocessor-based system, which logs the information about the relays, which are connected to the data logger . Data logger monitors and records all activities and event in the signalling system of a railway station, this involves using a computer to collect data through sensor , analyze the data and save the data. Data logger installed at 4-station Bhubaneswar, Palasa, Angul and Bhdrack. Control Office Application: All Six control boards viz Palasa board (Palasa-Bhusandpur), Khurda board (Bhusandpur-Barang & Khurda Road-Puri), Talcher board (Rajathgarh-Talcher & Talcher-Angul), Paradeep board ( Kapilas Road-Rajathgarh, Rajathgarh-Radhakishorepur, Rajathgarh-Machhapur, Barang-Kapilas Raod via Naraj, Salegaon-Nergundi & Cuttack- Paradeep), Bhadrak board (Kapilas Road-Bhadrak), Kendujhargarh board (Jakhapura- Nayagarh) are controlled through COA application.which is integrated with FOIS and COIS.

6. Making System Ready (Infrastructural developments) 2017-18:  New Station Commissioning:

 Nayagarh Town (NYGT) commissioned on 19.06.2017.  Bhubaneswar New (BBSN) commissioned on 17.06.17.  Third line with Auto Signaling:

 Mancheswar(MCS) to Bhubaneswar New (BBSN) - Third line with auto

signaling commissioned on 21.06.17.

 Barang(BRAG) to Bhubaneswar New(BBSN) - third line with auto signaling

commissioned on 22.06.17.

 Double Line:

 Chudangagarh to Barang(BRAG) double line commissioned on 19.06.2017.

 Naranpur(NANR) to Porjanpur(PRNR) double line commissioned on

26.04.2017.

 LONG HAUL LOOP:

 Long Haul loop at GANGADHARPUR(GNGD) (Route 1 common loop towards Palasa End) commissioned on 10.04.2017.

 Long Haul Loop commissioned at (GAM) on 29.07.2017.

 KENDRAPADA ROAD (Disconnection Work) : Increasing of CSL of line No.1&2 by shifting of cross over at CTC end of KNPR station on 22.11.2017.  ADDITIONAL LINE:

 One additional line GOALDHI(GADH) commissioned on 29.04.2017 in contest with Doubling.

 FLY OVER LINE:

 Fly Over line between Chudangagarh and Bubaneswar New(BBSN) commissioned on 17.06.2017.

 INTERMEDIATE BLOCK SIGNAL(IBS):

 IB between GHNH-NQR: IB between GHNH-NQR commissioned on 31.10.2017 at KM-435/13-15(UP) and 436/4-2(DN).
