The Bengsons (Composers “The Keep Going Song”) Abigail and Shaun Bengson are a married composing and performing duo based in NYC and VT. Their theater work includes Hundred Days (, New York Theatre Workshop, National Tour), The Lucky Ones (Ars Nova), The Keep Going Song (Actor’s Theatre of Louisville), Where the Mountain Meets the Sea (ATL’s Humana Festival), Anything That Gives Off Light (Edinburgh Theatre Festival, ), You’ll Still Call Me By Name (New York Live Arts, Jacob's Pillow), and Iphigenia in Aulis (Classic Stage ). Their music has been featured on “So You Think You Can Dance” (FOX). They have received the Jonathan Larson and Richard Rogers awards and nominations for the Drama Desk, Drama League, and Lucile Lortel awards. Shaun is a Dayton native and the Bengsons are proud to get to be a part of this wonderful production.

Ian Benjamin (Composer “The At- Home Rag”) grew up in Dayton, where his for the performing arts was ignited and nurtured by Kay Wean. He spent thirteen consecutive summers in the Epiphany Players musical (sometimes sharing the stage with Mrs. Sears) before going on to study Acting and at Wright State University. Since graduating in 2015, he has traveled to over forty different countries and performed for thousands of international guests on luxury cruise ships. He is a singer, actor, pianist, music director, composer, and baseball enthusiast. Ian lives with his wife, Eva, in .

Matthew P. Benjamin (Lighting Designer) is the Head of the Theatre Design/Technol- ogy Program in Wright State University’s Department of Theatre, Dance and Motion Pictures. Professional credits include seven seasons as the resident lighting designer for the Theatre of Lucca, Italy. Other design work includes productions with the Aspen Music Festival, Alley Theatre, Cincinnati Opera, CATCO, TriCities Opera, Luna Negra Dance Theatre, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Dayton Opera, Opera at Florham, and ballettech Ohio, among others. Member: United Scenic - ists. Matt is pleased to be returning to work with Megan and The Castle Players this year!!!

Gabriel Bordner (Composer “Isolated Nation”) is 11 years old and was born in Day- ton, Ohio. He currently lives in Melbourne, Florida. Gabriel has been playing piano since the age of 5 and started composing at the age of 8. In his free time, he enjoys coding, performing in musical theater and playing the cello. He would like to thank Mrs. Sears for giving him the opportunity to compose a song for her show.

David Brush (Co-Creator/Writer/Lyricist “Something to Leave Behind”, “Home Enough to Me”/Writer of “Scared to Life”) is a director, music director, vocal coach and librettist/lyricist for five original musicals. He received his M.A. in Theatre from Regent University and has assisted in the development of over 15 original musi- cals - two of which had successful Off-Broadway runs. His producer credits include: Off-Broadway - Hot Mess in Manhattan; Regional - Pump Up The Volume, The Consequences, and Spring Awakening. Directing credits include regional premieres of Next Thing You Know, , 35mm, The Last Five Years, Tick, Tick...Boom! and Rea- sons to Be Pretty. Writing credits include: Summer of My German Soldier (American Harmony Prize 2014, Stages Finalist); The Anxiety Project (New York, Original Cast Recording streaming now); and the upcoming Amelia and Coyote Sunrise. With Alter, David has served as Music Director for the past seven years and also served as Co-Director for And Then They Came for Me and The Guys. David has also served on the directing team for Epiphany Lutheran Church for the last seven summer musicals. David is a member of the Dramatists Guild, teaches musical theatre voice and serves as adjunct for Sinclair Community College. (For CEB)

Ryan Burgdorf (Sound Designer/Engineer) Is happy to return to Alter Castle Players for another amazing production! His credits at Alter as Sound Designer/Engineer include: Once on This Island and Thoroughly Modern Millie. His recent professional credits as a sound engineer include: americUS (Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park)The Frog Princess, (Ensemble Theater of Cincinnati), Lizzie (Human Race Theater Company), (Asolo Repertory Theater). Ryan was also the audio supervisor for the Hudson Valley Shakespeare company last spring. He also works part time for local pro- duction companies in the area. Ryan is a graduate of Wright State University where he received a BFA in Sound Design from the Theater Design and Technology program. He is thrilled to be once again working with the talented students of Alter!

Rachel Dean (Composer “Lights Fade”, “Something to Leave Behind”, “Home Enough to Me”) is a New York City-based composer, pianist, and music director. She is a pianist for and Moulin Rouge on Broadway as well as a staff pianist at NYU Steinhardt. An ASCAP award recipient, Rachel’s work has been performed in New York, Tokyo, Mi- ami, Ohio, Arizona, and New Jersey. Musicals in development include The Anxiety Proj- ect (with David Brush), On the Line (with Amy Burgess; upcoming production at Rubber City Theatre), Medusa (with Wes Braver), and The Ballad of Janis Matthews and the Dodo Scouts (with Giancarlo Rodaz). Rachel is a member of ASCAP and AFM Local 802.

Kim Harvey (Costume Designer) has been with the Alter Castle Players for 3 years. Her favorite shows to costume have been Thoroughly Modern Millie with the Castle Players and Why We Tell the Story with the Epiphany Players Drama Ministry. She has had a love of costuming since she was a young adult when she made Belle and Jasmine cos- tumes for her and her best friend. She would like to thank Megan for trusting her with her vision and Lori for being such an amazing partner and mentor. She would also like to thank her daughter for inspiring her to make costumes ranging from Alice In Won- derland to “A plate of spaghetti” and just about everything in between.

Sam Johnson (Stage Manager) is a senior and is looking forward to his fourth year as Stage Manager for the Castle Players. Sam has enjoyed his time behind the scenes managing all the productions over the years and looks forward to the challenges that lie ahead! He is thankful to the Alter community for working so hard to find a way to continue to the theatre program in the current, uncertain environment. Sam hopes that you enjoy the thoughtfully created, original production of Breaking the Fifth Wall.

Sophia LiBrandi (Writer of “The Things We’ve Lost”) Sophia is currently a junior at Emory University located in Atlanta, Georgia. She is majoring in Creative Writing and minoring in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality studies. She's home for the semester and is so excited to get to participate in yet another Castle Player's production! She's used to being up on stage, but this time she gets to work behind the scenes and sim- ply feels lucky to be included. Sophia had so much fun writing for this production and hopes that you find some comfort and community in this important world of theatre. She knows she did.

Jessica Pettit (Properties Designer) is proud to support the Alter Castle Players as Props Manager. A lifelong performer (and veteran of many high school theatre pro- ductions), Jessica is happy to lend her crafting skills to the cast and watch her son Eric as he takes the stage!

Megan Wean Sears (Co-Creator/Director/Choreographer) is honored to be here at Alter for her 8th year as the drama teacher and theatre director/choreographer. Me- gan earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from Wright State University and resided in New York City for several years. She traveled all across the country performing in countless productions, including the Broadway National Tour of . Se- lect regional credits include: North Shore Music Theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse, Maine State Music Theatre, Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre, Gateway Playhouse, The Palace, Beef and Boards and The Barn Theatre. Select choreography credits include: It by Heart (The Human Race Theatre Company), (Wright State University) and Sweeney Todd (Gateway Playhouse). As director/choreographer and educator, Megan has also worked with Epiphany Players for the last 7 years (including regional premieres of Big Fish and , among others). She is blessed to be a part of such a beautiful ministry. Megan is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA). Seth Wade (Scenic Artist) is a local artist and educator. He is currently an adjunct professor of drawing at the University of Dayton, where he received his Bachelor’s of Fine Art. Seth has also taught at the University of Cincinnati, where he received his Master’s of Fine Art, at Stiver’s School for the Arts, and right here at Alter.

Lori Watamaniuk (Costume Designer) has had the pleasure of costuming several shows at Alter High School the last 7 years including Boeing Boeing, Children of Eden, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, , Blithe Spirit, , And Then They Came For Me, , , , The Guys, Steel Magnolias, Songs for a New World, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. In addition, she has costumed many summer musicals at Epiphany Lutheran Church such as The Wizard of Oz, Seussical, , Godspell, Willy Wonka, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Once on this Island, Tarzan, Big Fish, , The Secret Garden, Why We Tell the Story, and numerous Christmas shows. She would like to thank her family for their support over the years and Kim Harvey for all her hard work. CAST BIOS

Nick Abouzeid (Ensemble) is a junior and is thrilled to be a part of his fifth production as an Alter Castle Player. Nick has been in three previous musicals as Bun Foo in Thor- oughly Modern Millie, Parker in , Daniel in Once on This Island and just recently in the Fall Play, , as Hal. He thanks his cast members for all their support and can’t wait for you all to enjoy the show!

Genevieve Bacarella (Crew) is a sophomore and is overjoyed to have a theatre season this year. She has been into theatre since her sister, Mackenzie, was in theatre during her high school years. She loves being a part of a community where she can express herself creatively and is so excited for the shows to come.

Ian Carter (Ensemble) is a junior this year. He loves to do the shows at Alter and is su- per excited for you to see what he has written. Outside of theater he plays volleyball and is active in the Scouts. He hopes you enjoy the show as much as he loved making and performing it.

Michael Ferguson (Ensemble) is a senior and is excited to be a part of this production. Michael has been involved in Castle Players productions since his freshman year, and you may have seen him previously as Jimmy in The Guys, Bill and Darren in 26 Pebbles, or Mr. Blumen in Freaky Friday. If you didn’t see Michael on stage, he was in the tech booth controlling the lights. He plans to join AFROTC in college and study mechanical engineering. He loves being an Alter Castle Player and he hopes you enjoy the show!

Sophia Imundo (Ensemble) is a senior and is very excited to be in her last play at Alter. You may have seen her as Starr in 26 Pebbles, understudy Ouiser in Steel Magnolias, or ensemble in Once on This Island and Freaky Friday. Outside of theater, Sophia partic- ipates in Miller’s Babies improv troupe, contemporary dance at Impressions, and Key Club. She would like to thank everyone involved with Castle Players for a wonderful three years. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Theresa Junker (Ensemble) is a senior and is excited to be part of her 11th show with the Castle Players! She has been on crew for six shows and in the cast for four musi- cals. Some of her favorite shows to be in at Alter have been Songs for a New World and Once on This Island. Theresa is also involved in Science Olympiad, Academic Team, and Key Club. She is thrilled to be back with her Castle Players family!

Gabrielle Lambert (Ensemble) is a freshman, and this is her second Castle Player production. Just recently, she was the female swing in Proof. She is also a member of the Lancerette dance team at Alter. In addition to her involvement at school, Gabi is on the competition dance team at her dance studio, Center Stage. She knows you will enjoy the productions!

Isa Lambert (Ensemble) is a junior this year, and this is her 6th Castle Player Pro- duction. In addition to being involved with theatre at Alter, Isa is a member of the Lancerette Dance Team, Key Club, Student Ambassadors, and the Creative Arts Club. Outside of school, she is a member of the competition dance team for her dance studio, Center Stage Academy of the Arts. She is very proud of this production and knows you will appreciate the talent displayed in the many different facets of the show!

Marie Lunne (Crew) is a senior and is delighted to begin her third year as a Castle Player. She has been on crew for two shows and has performed in two shows here at Alter. Her years as a Castle Player have been some of her favorite and she is endlessly grateful to those who support her in this program.

Brigid McKenna (Ensemble) is a senior here at Alter High School and this is her first show with the Castle Players. She has been dancing for 13 years and the past 5 years with South Dayton Dance Theatre. She has performed as Clara, Dewdrop, and Reed Flute in their Nutcracker and their annual Spring Concert. She is very excited for her first show with the Castle Players!

Mikayla Mihok (Ensemble) is a sophomore and is super excited to be a part of her third Castle Players production. Outside of theatre, she enjoys bowling and playing with her dog. She has been a part of theatre for eight years now and loves it.

Shawn Monteiro is a junior and is elated to join his 8th production at Alter! You may have seen him in Freaky Friday as Adam or in Once on This Island as Agwe. Outside of theatre, he enjoys photography and playing the piano. He hopes you love the show!!

Lily Nevers (Ensemble) is ecstatic to be a part of her first show with the Alter Castle Players! Lily has done theater for most of her life and is more than thankful that the- ater is allowed to happen again. You may have recently seen her as The Cat in the Hat in Seussical Jr. Some of her favorite roles include Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden, Sara Brown in , and Junie B. Jones in Junie B. Jones: is Not a Crook. She hopes that you enjoy the show as much as she does!

Olivia Oney (Ensemble) is a freshman from Dayton, Ohio. She has been involved in musical theatre since the age of 8, including Seussical Jr., A Christmas Carol, and Alice in Wonderland. This is her first play with The Castle Players, and she hopes to do many more.

Renee Palmer (Crew) is a senior at Alter and is thrilled to be backstage for her 6th production. Renee has been involved in Castle Players productions since her soph- omore year in Songs for a New World, as well as 26 Pebbles, Freaky Friday, Once on This Island, and most recently Proof. She is very excited to get back to the for her final year, and of course, enjoy the show.

Chloe Parker (Ensemble) is a junior at Alter and she has done the following shows: Peter Pan, The Music Man, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Freaky Friday, Once on This Island, , and Proof. She has also participated in several acapella groups and choirs. She is thrilled to be a part of the Alter Castle Players and cannot wait to show you this incredible performance!

Eric Pettit (Ensemble) is a sophomore and is excited to be part of Breaking the Fifth Wall. During his freshman year with Alter Castle Players, he appeared as “Joe” in 26 Pebbles, as “Wells/Louis” in Freaky Friday, and as a “Storyteller” in Once on This Is- land. Previously, Eric has performed on stage with Epiphany Players, Dare to Inspire, and HRTC, among others.

Caitlyn Porter (Crew) is a senior and is so excited to be a part of the program again for one last year. Caitlyn has been a part of the program since sophomore year and has done spotlight for Thoroughly Modern Millie and Freaky Friday. Caitlyn is also active in Alter Girls Soccer, Alter Girls Lacrosse, National Honors Society, Alter Scholars, and University Club. Caitlyn plans to study Computer Science Engineering in college. She is so thankful to have had this time with the Castle Players and will leave Alter with lots of fond memories

Simon Roth (Crew) is a freshman here at Alter and has a passionate love for theater. He has not been in any out of school performances, but he has participated with Muse Machine at his school. This is Simon’s first performance at Alter and is very excited for all his performances that are to come.

Stuart Schramm (Ensemble) is a junior and this is his 6th show at Alter. You may have seen him virtually as Armand in Once on this Island. He is so excited for you to see the creativity of the cast of Breaking the Fifth Wall and hope it makes this difficult time a little bit easier.

Lauren Shenk (Ensemble) is a senior here at Alter and this is her third year in Alter Castle Players. You might have seen her as New Modern in Thoroughly Modern Millie or Mrs. Time in Freaky Friday. She has also been in Songs for a New World and Once on this Island as ensemble and understudy Catherine in Proof. She has done crew for 26 Pebbles. Besides theater Lauren is also a part of NHS, BOLD and is a God Squad Leader. She is so happy to be a part of Alter Castle Players and is excited to be on stage again with her friends and with her sister for the first time. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as she does!

Sophia Shenk (Ensemble) is a freshman at Alter. She is excited to be a part of her first Castle Players production. Sophia has been in a few other shows including Shake- speare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Charlotte’s Web. She hopes to do many more shows with the Castle Players.

Sarah Theewis (Crew) is excited for her second season as an Alter Castle Player. She has previously worked on sound for Castle Players in 26 Pebbles, Freaky Friday, and Once on This Island and has worked lights for Alter’s Got Talent.

Taylor Thornburg (Ensemble) is a senior and is thrilled to be in her first Castle Players production! While this is her first performance in Alter’s theatre, she is no stranger to the stage. She is currently a member of Dayton Ballet’s pre-professional training company and has had the opportunity to dance alongside the professional company members at the Schuster Performing Arts Center and Victoria Theatre. She has been featured in Dayton Ballet’s The Nutcracker as Clara in 2016 and most recently as a Corps de Ballet member in Snow and Flowers. She has also been featured in Dayton Ballet’s productions of The Great Gatsby, Sleeping Beauty, and Romeo and Juliet just to name a few. She has also performed with Muse Machine in their winter musicals and summer concerts in the ensemble and as a featured dancer. Taylor plans to pursue a career in medicine with a specialization in orthopedics. She is so excited to be sharing this unique theatre experience with you and wants to thank her family for their uncon- ditional support!

Averi Turner (Ensemble) is a senior and is honored to tell this impactful story about the current events in the world. Averi has been involved in 5 other Castle Players produc- tions and you may have seen her previously as Grandma Helene in Freaky Friday or and Kat in 26 Pebbles. Thank you to Mrs. Lambert for allowing the Castle Players to put on such an incredible production even during the pandemic. Enjoy the show!

Annabel Wildermuth (Ensemble) is a senior and is thrilled to be a part of her 11th production at Alter. You may have seen her previously as Erzulie in Once on this Island, Savannah in Freaky Friday, Yolie and Jeriann in 26 Pebbles, or Gloria in Thoroughly Modern Millie. She is excited to share the stage with her new friends and put on a show that deals with the struggles we face today.
