A Walking Tour Rich in History...

Clayton is rich in River history. Downtown Clayton has been designated by the U.S. Department of the Interior as a historic district. This district is architecturally and historically significant as one of the most intact and cohesive collections of late 19th and early 20th century commerical buildings in Northern New York. There are 31 buildings in the historical district, all built between 1854 and the 1920s. Stop in at the Chamber of Commerce when you arrive and a Walking Tour Map. The Map will guide you on a walking tour of the Village and will provide interesting facts about the historic buildings you will see.
