OTTAWA, THOUSAND ISLANDS ADVENTURE & CASTLES OF NEW YORK | 9 Days - 8 Nights The sample itinerary described below is approximately like the itinerary your group will be following during your stay with WHITE STAR TOURS. However, the exact times, days, and destinations may vary for your group. Day 1 -Depart on your flight to Ottawa, Ontario ... Canada’s Capital. After claiming your luggage, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Dinner has been arranged for you in the area. Day 2 -After a delectable breakfast, meet your guide to depart on a tour of Ottawa. Afterwards, stop at colorful Byward Market where farmers, fisherman and artisans congregate to sell their produce, pastries, and Canadian artwork. Enjoy lunch on your own in the area. Later, you will enjoy dinner on your own, followed by a visit to Casino du Lac Leamy where you can try your luck at gambling. Day 3 -After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Parliament Hill, featuring the Parliament Buildings and the House of Com- mons. Later, you will visit the Canadian Museum of Nature where you can learn explore fabulous nature exhibits. Dinner is included at a popular area restaurant this evening. Day 4 - Following breakfast, check out and depart for the beautiful 1000 Islands. Arrive at the Colonial Resort & Spa in Gananoque, Canada, for check-in. You will be treated to a punch welcome orientation upon arrival. Enjoy a wonderful dinner at the hotel and meet the friendly hotel staff. In your free time this evening, you may wish to browse in the gift shop, relax and socialize in the Pub, enjoy the facilities, or treat yourself to a spa service at an additional cost. This evening your group will enjoy a visit to Shorelines Casino 1000 Islands. Day 5 - Breakfast is included at the hotel, then depart with your local guide for a scenic 2 1/2-hour cruise of the 1000 Islands. Enjoy the informative narration on the cruise, and take pictures of this beautiful island paradise. You will have lunch on your own today. Your day will also include a visit to historic Kingston, the “Limestone City”. See why it is known as such as you enjoy a tour of the city. Return to the resort for dinner and live entertainment. Day 6 -After breakfast, depart on a day of touring. Travel along the scenic 1000 Islands Parkway to your first stop at the 1000 Islands Tower located on one of the 1000 Islands, Hill Island. Enjoy the spectacular and unique view of the 1000 Islands from 400 feet above the St. Lawrence River. Lunch is on your own. Today you will also step back in time to the 1800’s with a visit to either historic Fort Henry (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) or Upper Canada Village (one of the largest living history sites in Canada). Return to the resort for dinner and live entertainment. Day 7 - Enjoy breakfast, then check out and travel to Upstate New York where upon arrival you will check into your hotel in the Alexandria Bay area near the Canadian border. You will have time to freshen up before enjoying a delicious dinner, which is followed by a relaxing evening. Day 8 -After a buffet breakfast, you will depart for the dock in downtown Alexandria Bay to begin Uncle Sam’s boat tour of two castles, located on the St. Lawrence River. Your first stop will be at Dark Island for a tour of Singer Castle which was built by the Bourne Family. Afterwards, enjoy the beautiful scenery as you cruise along the St. Lawrence River on the way to Boldt Castle. A boxed lunch will be provided. Arrive on Heart Island to visit Boldt Castle for a self-guided tour of the interior of the castle. The Castle was built as a monument of love by George Boldt for his wife, Louise. After your visit, you will cruise back to the dock. Return to your hotel to freshen up before departing for another delicious dinner at a popular restaurant in the area. Day 9 - Following a buffet breakfast, check out and depart on your return flight home with lasting memories of your trip to Canada and Upstate New York.     Student Exchange Evaluation BASIC INFORMATION Otago degree Master of Planning Host University Semester & Year of Queens University, Exchange Kingston, Canada Semester 2, August- December 2017 ACADEMICS: At Queens University I studied within the School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP). I absolutely loved being in SURP and would highly recommend Queens to all Master of Planning students at Otago!! The school is very social and is always holding lots of events, so you get to know your classmates really well. They offer a broad range of interesting course choices and have professors from diverse backgrounds and fields of expertise. I took three courses (papers), one of which was worth double the credits, therefore equating to four papers at Otago. Sign up for these courses occurred on the first day of orientation week, meaning I didn’t have to worry about applying online before I went. However, this made it important to have lots of papers signed off on my learning agreement to ensure that I had several options in case courses were full. The courses I took are listed below.
