The first survey was on RRS James Clark Ross in April, with a further survey planned for April 2019 on RRS Discovery. Samples collected from the 2018 survey included the second known specimen of a deep-sea angler fish and a potentially new St Helena Seamount species of octopus.

Selwyn Stroud netted four and hotshot Sean-Lee Thomas bagged a hat-trick to lead Harts to an 8-1 victory over Chop Shop Boys (CSB) on Sunday afternoon. The win was Harts’ 12th on the trot. They are the only unbeaten team in the league and are edging ever closer to league glory. However, they do have a league showdown with second-place team Rovers looming on the horizon. Sunday’s match was played in glorious sunshine with barely a cloud in the sky. Flaggstaff remained in view for the entire afternoon, leaving many to ponder why the weekly flight from Johannesburg had been cancelled… but back to football. Harts were clearly the favourites for this match and they exerted a firm hold on the match right from the get-go. Man of the Match Selwyn Stroud broke the deadlock with just 5mins gone on the clock. CSB were on a run of five consecutive defeats, but were still playing with great determination despite conceding an early lead. They were rewarded for their efforts on the 10-minute mark when Jordan Thomas fired in an equaliser that breathed life into the match. However, the goal proved to be their one and only highlight of the match. It was one-way traffic following the goal.
