On 25 September 1824 Joseph sold nephew Hiram 150 acres described as on "both sides Main Broad near the mouth of Laurel Creek" for $500. The transaction was wit. by Rebecca Jackson The tract is located between Jackson Creek. and Sand Branch near Round Mountain in Rutherford (now Buncombe) County NC. The last traverse is along the "old Jackson line". Hiram sold this tract one month later (on 20 Oct 1824) to Josua Lowther (Souther?), the document was witnessed by Joseph's brother Amos. Ephram established a large farm operation, was a cattle breeder and he claimed to be first cousin of Pres. Andrew Jackson.
