Academic trajectory

He received his law degree from the San Marcos National University (UNMSM) and PhD. in Laws and Political Science by the same university. Master in Constitutional Law, he undertook various specialization courses in , Ecuador, Costa Rica and Spain; at the University of Business and Social Sciences of Buenos Aires, Andean University Simón Bolívar of Ecuador, University of Costa Rica, University of Florida, Complutense University of Madrid and University of Oregon. Graduate from the Center for Political and Constitutional Studies of Madrid. He has been a visiting researcher at the International Institute for the Sociology of Law (Euskadi, 2006 and 2009).

He has been a teacher in constitutional and environmental law at the San Juan Bautista Private University (2010), the National University of San Marcos (2010), the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University UPCH (2013), the Diploma Course in Interculturality and Amazonian Indigenous Peoples at the Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University UARM (2011- 2013). He is currently a researcher and professor of continuous training in environmental law of the Diploma Course of Environmental Management at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Territory and Renewable Energy of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (INTE PUCP), of the Indigenous Peoples Rights of the UNMSM and Professor in the Master of Biocommerce and Natural Resources at the UNMSM (2014 and 2016).

Career path

Since 2005, he is an Associate of Law, Environment and Natural Resources (DAR), a Peruvian non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of indigenous peoples’ rights and the Amazonian rainforest. He is currently Executive Director of this institution (2013-to date). He has been a consultant for several NGOs in policy analysis related to energy, indigenous peoples and biodiversity, and speaker on issues related to the energy sector, the rights of indigenous peoples in the Amazon and the conservation of biodiversity in Spain, United States, Ecuador, , Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico. He currently represents DAR in several public and civil society initiatives. At the national level, he is an alternate civil society member of the Board of the Forestry Service SERFOR (2017), and of the Environmental Advisory Council of the Ministry of the Environment of Peru (2017) ; Board Member of the American NGO Bank Information Center BIC (2016) , of the Advisory Council of the Brazilian NGO Fondo Casa de Brasil (2015), and civil society representative of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI, 2016-2019).
