The College at BROCKPORT ~ Recreational Services Intramural Sports Rules

Field, Court and Equipment:

 All Games will be played in the back gymnasium in Tuttle North  Shin guards are highly recommended.  Recreational Services will provide a soccer ball.

Players:

 Each team shall consist of 6 players. A team may start and continue a game with 5 players. COREC games must be played with 3 males/females or 3 females/2 males.  Substitutions may be made on the fly. The player leaving the court must be out of the play before a player may replace them.  All players must present their College at BROCKPORT ID prior to the beginning of the event.

Playing Time:

 The game will consist of 2 15-minute halves (running clock except for the last 1 minute of the game) with a 3-minute intermission.  Each team is allowed 1 time-out per game.  Regular season games may end in a tie. Playoff games will have overtime.

Game Rules:

 There shall be no offsides.  The following are violations or dead ball and will result in an indirect free kick from the spot of the violation:  Goalie playing the ball outside of the box (kick outside the area).  Goalie holding the ball for more than 5 seconds (kick outside the penalty area).  Goalie playing the ball immediately after a defending player *intentionally* (kick outside the penalty area).  Anytime the ball hits the ceiling, goes out of play or lands on the back of the goal.  *outside the penalty area*.  Dangerous play (playing the ball while on the ground or high kick).  The following are penalties and result in a 2:00 minute penalty and an indirect free kick from the spot of the foul:  Tripping, Interference, Holding, Unsportsmanlike Conduct, etc.  All penalties could be issued a yellow or red card depending on the severity.  Too many players on the floor.  NO slide tackles…stay on your feet!  The following will result in a penalty shot:  An intentional handball on the defending team in their penalty box (red card).  An intentional penalty on the defense in the penalty area (yellow or red card).

 Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. Please refer to the Intramural Sports manual for a complete description of our sportsmanship regulations. Indoor Soccer  Any player receiving 2 yellow cards or 1 red card will be ejected. Any player ejected will be suspended for a minimum of 1 game pending a meeting with the Intramural Sports Coordinator.  Any team that has 2 players ejected throughout the regular season or 1 player during the playoffs will immediately be removed from the league. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.

Indoor Soccer Overtime Rules

♦ Each team chooses 5 shooters (at least 2 must be female/male)

♦ The ball will be placed on the red line, just in front of the “basketball jump ball circle,” and the shooter must kick the ball from the spot where the ball is placed.

♦ The ball must completely cross the goal line in order to be a goal.

o If the goalie leaves the crease, he/she is no longer a goalie; he/she may only defend as a regular player if out of the crease. o The shooter may not leave his/her feet to take a shot  Any of violation will result in the shot being disallowed.

♦ If the score is tied after all 5 shooters shoot for both teams, then the shooters will shoot again, this time sudden death style. o Players must shoot in the same order regardless of the number of attempts they take. o Each team is entitled to the same amount of chances to score.

Referee and Manager responsibilities…

Referees:

♦ One on goal line, the other at the top of the goalie crease. ♦ The referee at the goal crease must make sure that the goalie is ready, and then make sure the shooter as well as the manager is ready. When everyone is ready, blow the whistle to begin play. ♦ The must be on opposite sides of the floor so that both have a good angle on the shot.

Manager:

♦ The manager will be responsible for placing the ball on the red line and not letting the shooters advance before everyone involved is ready.

Supervisor:

♦ On overtime shooters sheet, write down the 5 shooters for each team, and record whether or not a goal is scored.
