The papers are related to the following themes: MPA and MPA governance, coastal ecosystem rehabilitation, sustainable fisheries management and EAFM, coastal risk reduction and climate change impact and adaptation management, community livelihood enhancement, ecosystem services and valuation, marine spatial planning, marine pollution reduction, low carbon emission activity enhancement, marine bioprospecting, coastal and marine natural products, marine environmental biotechnology. The conference is attended by 368 authors in 116 abstracts from 11 countries, namely Australia, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Netherland, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Timor Leste, and USA. Finally, 16 (sixteen) papers were accepted as full papers for inclusion in this special issue of Coastal and Ocean Journal. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants of “The 1st International Conference on Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) and Marine Biotechnology” for their inspiring contributions. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the various processes involved in the making of this conference and these proceedings, to the organizing committee members, invited speakers, session chairs, presenters, the publisher, and all those who helped with technical issues.
