The Gathering by Ana Reisens Adult Category, First Place In the movie we sleep fearlessly on open planes because we cannot imagine any danger more tragic than those that have already passed. For weeks we have been arriving over the earth’s broken skin, over mountains and rivers, shaking the aching flagpoles from our shoulders. Now all the priests and imams and rabbis and shamans are gathered beside the others, teachers, brothers and kings and they’re sharing recipes and cooking sweet stories over fires. Suddenly we hear a voice calling from the sky or within – or is it a radio? – and it sings of quilts and white lilies as if wool and petals were engines. It’s a lullaby, a prayer we all understand, familiar like the scent of a lover’s skin. And as we listen we remember our grandmothers’ hands, the knitted strength of staying, how silence rises like warmth from a woven blanket. And slowly the lines begin to disappear from our skin and our memories spin until we’ve forgotten the I of our own histories and everyone is holy, everyone is laughing, weeping, singing, It’s over, come over, come in. And this is it, the story, an allegory, our movie – the ending and a beginning. The producer doesn’t want to take the risk. No one will watch it, he says, but we say, Just wait. All the while a familiar song plays on the radio and somewhere in a desert far away a soldier in a tank stops as if he’s forgotten the way. -

Yazoo Discography
Yazoo discography This discography was created on basis of web resources (special thanks to Eugenio Lopez at www.yazoo.org.uk and Matti Särngren at hem.spray.se/lillemej) and my own collection (marked *). Whenever there is doubt whether a certain release exists, this is indicated. The list is definitely not complete. Many more editions must exist in European countries. Also, there must be a myriad of promo’s out there. I have only included those and other variations (such as red vinyl releases) if I have at least one well documented source. Also, the list of covers is far from complete and I would really appreciate any input. There are four sections: 1. Albums, official releases 2. Singles, official releases 3. Live, bootlegs, mixes and samples 4. IV. Sweet Sleep: Rituals and Aids
IV. Sweet Sleep: Rituals and Aids By Rabbi Elie Kaplan Spitz Rituals and Aids Before: Overview of Ritual and Sleep Aids Hashkeveinu Forgiveness Before Sleep Reciting Sh’ma on the Bed Caster of Sleep Aids for Better Sleep Optimal Temperature Jacob’s Monumental Pillow Lullaby as “Lillith Bye” Hebrew Lullabies Yiddish Lullabies Angels by My Side English Prayers and Lullabies Guided Meditations for Relaxation and Restful Sleep After: Lazybones Awaking with Gratitude: Modeh Ani A Woman’s Modeh Ani A Pure Soul The Miracle of a Functional Body Conclusion Overview: Rituals and Aids for Sleep Intentionality matters. The words we recite before sleep sets the path for our night journey. The words we utter upon awaking create awareness that shapes our wakefulness. Rituals and aids surrounding sleep have content that ripples inwardly and outwardly. Many of our small children at bedtime clutch a teddy bear or stroke a “blankie,” often while sucking a finger. Psychologist Donald Winnicott labeled such items of comfort “transitional objects.” For him the “transition” was from feeling merged with the mother to an awareness of separateness. The object was a substitute for the mother’s comforting presence and yet, not her. Some would reduce the rituals of nighttime to a transitional object, failing to value a ritual’s content. By analogy, although all love may be tied back to our initial love of mother, in our lives we mature and our love choices are marked by intervening relationships, psychological predisposition, and commitment. Rituals do offer constancy and evoke feelings of comfort and the words recited before and after sleep have their own inherent significance. -

Death to Despair Sermon Notes
1 Easter: The Death of Despair, John 20:1-18 April 12, 2020 For the first couple centuries, the church did not meet not in big, beautiful buildings like the one we are privileged to gather in during normal circumstances, but in homes like the one you are worshipping in this morning. In fact, in many places around the world house churches still thrive…So be encouraged that the church is not the four walls of a building, but the church is us. The church gathers every Sunday for the last 2000 principally because of John 20:1. The day of the empty tomb, the day of the resurrection of Jesus. And so we celebrate Easter every Sunday, although this is the day we set aside as particularly special. Now talking about celebration when we are in the midst of a pandemic may seem, on the surface, a bit tone-deaf. How can we celebrate, how can you have joy at a time like this? To the casual observer or skeptic, we may seem aloof and unhinged from reality. I guess it depends on your perspective. Have you ever found yourself in a heated argument over how a series of events or the origins of how a conflict came about? And while you are arguing about the details and the tone of voice and the order of events and whether or not it is legitimate to be offended, you are astonished because you are thinking in the moment, were we even in the same conversation, or the same room? How can we both have such vastly different interpretations of the same situation? What Is wrong with them? I wish I recorded this…If you are married, can I get an amen? And then some time goes by and you are take a step back and you actually hear the other person’s perspective…you kind of go, “Ohhhh, okay that actually does make sense, that actually changes everything about all those not-so-nice things I thought about you. -
