Hein The wheat curl mite (Aceria tosichella Keifer) (WCM) is a vector of three plant viruses to wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) including: Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV), Triticum mosaic virus (TriMV), and High Plains wheat mosaic virus. This wheat-mite- virus complex causes significant yield loss in winter wheat across the Great Plains. Management of WCM host plants during the time between wheat harvest and planting of the new wheat crop (the green bridge) is critical in reducing potential risk and loss from this complex. -

LEM causes a type of gall called ‘erineum’ (abnormal felty growth of trichomes from the epidermis), where it feeds, reproduces and protects itself from biotic and abiotic adversities. In February of 2018, LEM was found in a commercial lychee orchard on Pine Island, Florida. Infestations were recorded on young leaves, stems, and inflorescences of approximately 30 young trees (1.5–3.0 yrs.) of three lychee varieties presenting abundant new growth. -

Ramani The present paper embodies the results of a survey conducted on the eriophyid mite fauna associated with Division of Acarology, Department 29 species of economically important plants belonging to 17 families, grown in four districts viz. of Zoology, University of Calicut, Waynad, Kozhikkode, Palakkad and Malappuram of North Kerala. The results of the survey yielded 29 pin: 673635, India species of gall forming eriophyid mites belonging to 4 genera viz., Aceria, Eriophyes, Acalitus, and Diptilomioptus. Out of the 29 species of host plants screened, 22 disclosed distinctly developed mite galls while the rest 7 species showed open galls called the ‘erinea’. Members of the family Rubiaceae were found more susceptible to gall formation, as 6 species showed the presence of mite galls. The maximum number of gall forming eriophyid species could be recovered from the plants growing in Kozhikode district, disclosing 18 species. Lowest number of eriophyid species could be recovered from Palakkad district, showing only 7 species. Keywords: Economically important plants, Eriophyid mites, galls, North Kerala. 1. Abstract Nayarit is the main producer of soursop (Annona muricata L.) worldwide. Among the main limitations for production are mites, so, in order to know the population fluctuation of the eriophyid Acerio annonae (Keifer) between February and December 2016, periodic sampling was done every 30 days in three municipalities and four localities: Compostela (Altavista and El Divisadero), Xalisco (San Antonio) and Tepic (El Trapichillo). For the samplings, 10 trees were considered by location, randomly selected; each tree was divided into five sampling areas, one per cardinal point, with one leaf (sample) per area, also randomly selected, for a total of 50 samples per location. The samples were taken to the agricultural parasitology laboratory of the Agricultural Academic Unit at the Autonomous University of Nayarit, where the total number of adults and adults per sheet was periodically quantified from each locality. -

The mites from U. europaeus and Genista monspessulana, which were previously identified as or suspected to be Aceria genistae, are herein confirmed as Aceria davidmansoni—previously known only from U. europaeus in New Zealand. The mites from Lupinus albicaulis (no galls), Lupinus densiflorus (with gall-like deformities although not true galls), Cytisus striatus and C. scoparius are confirmed as A. genistae (the first three species were used in host specificity tests for A. genistae from C. scoparius and only C. striatus is confirmed as a new host for A. genistae). Another unrelated species, Aculops hussongi Keifer, was found on L. albicaulis in Nisqually, Washington, USA.
