Admission Admission to the James-Simon-Galerie is free, with the exception of the special exhibitions in the temporary exhibition space. Entry to special ex- hibitions is included in tickets to the Neues Museum and the Pergamon- museum. Admission to special exhibitions is free with a Museumsinsel ticket, a Museumpass Berlin, a Berlin Welcome Card Museumsinsel, a Berlin Welcome Card All Inclusive, as well as with Basic, Classic and Classic plus annual passes. Admission for children and young people up to the age of 18 is also free.

Accessibility The building and the exhibition rooms are all wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs and folding stools can be borrowed from the cloakroom. The building is equipped with a toilet for visitors with mobility issues. Qualified carers for people with severe disabilities receive free admission to the ex- hibitions. Members of the museum’s team are also on hand to offer assis- tance.

Entrance to the Neues Museum and the Pergamonmuseum Until the completion of phase A of the restoration and refurbishment of the MECHTILD KRONENBERG Pergamonmuseum, the James-Simon-Galerie will be the sole access HEAD OF PRESS, COMMUNICATION, SPONSORSHIP point to the Pergamonmuseum, and one of two entrances to the Neues Museum. Permanent exhibition The lower floor of the James-Simon-Galerie hosts a permanent exhibition with a tactile model of the Museumsinsel and its surroundings, a repro- duction of a cabinet from the cabinet of antiquities in the Berlin Palace, and a drawer with original coins that were among the first purchases of the Royal Kunstkammer, as well as one of the foundation pillars of the building that preceded the James-Simon-Galerie (constructed between 1829 and 1832). Three media installations – a video loop and two interac- tive booths – provide a multi-layered and engaging look at the history of the Museumsinsel Berlin and its buildings and collections. Admission to the permanent exhibition is free.

Auditorium The auditorium which can hold up to 300 people is the new event venue in the James-Simon-Galerie for internal and external events.

Audio guide The audio guide is available at the ticket desks and is included in the ad- mission fee.

Guided tours for adults The Architecture of the James-Simon-Galerie Designed by David Chipperfield Architects, the central entrance building puts the finishing touch on the World Heritage Site of the Museumsinsel. While referencing the Neoclassical motifs of the surrounding museum buildings, it also features highly contemporary elements. This guided tour highlights the new building’s role within the ensemble of buildings on the Museumsinsel, as well as the building’s history and its architectural char- acteristics.
