The Festival has been running across the district for 57 years and for 2017 the programme will focus more on arts and cultural activity and will boast a full range of music, theatre, dance, visual arts and educational activities. The trustees have also placed more emphasis on free community arts activities, for example by introducing new free events such as REFRESHRubery in the village centre and a Bite Sized Classics concert at St Andrew’s Church in Charford. And as always the major part of the Festival programme comprises events that are promoted and organised by local societies, clubs and other organisations whose support is never-waning and extremely valuable. This year’s Festival will be building on the feedback from the 2016 event when an independent survey and impact assessment by Tiller Research showed significant benefits for the Bromsgrove District and increased audience participation. Graham Mackenzie, Chair of Bromsgrove Festival Limited, said: “The 2016 Festival was judged a great success. Feedback from event organisers who saw increased attendances and audience members was almost unanimously positive. "So, despite reduced funding, the Festival Committee has had no hesitation in organising the 2017 Festival in the same wide ranging, high quality community-based style. "We also hope by reaching out across the district we will encourage greater participation in Festival activities in areas of Bromsgrove that have previously not seriously engaged with the Festival.” The Bromsgrove Festival will run this year from Friday 16th June to Sunday July 23rd. The full programme is also available at www.bromsgrovefestival.co.uk and many events will provide for internet booking and ticket purchase. • Wythall Residents Association
WYTHALL RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION Together we can make Wythall West a better place to live and work. Wythall residents need a strong INDEPENDENT LOCAL VOICE to speak out as their District Councillor. We are giving you that CHOICE. Why should you vote for your WYTHALL RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION candidate? We need to improve the way Bromsgrove District Council is managed: The Council has lost its way and needs fresh ideas and a new approach to delivering local services. The planning department is officially the worst performing in the entire country and has been “Designated” by the Government which means that large developers are able to by-pass the Council’s democratic planning process. Your Council Tax money is being wasted on grandiose schemes to revive the flagging Bromsgrove town centre. Converting an old, unsuitable building into a new Council House with limited space and car parking, this means that virtually all of the Council staff will be based in Redditch, which adds to the expense. Borrowing over £11m to build a new Bromsgrove Town leisure centre with no sports hall and which our residents cannot reach by public transport. Council Tax payers will be repaying this debt for the next 50 years. The New Homes Bonus has not been fairly shared with Wythall. We have had to accommodate many new homes with no additional facilities or infrastructure. This short term Government funding is currently used to prop up council services—but what will happen when it runs out? Only Wythall Residents Association Councillors believe that Wythall residents should receive a fair share of this bonus.

The advantage is that you only register once and the scheme allows you to view and bid on available properties for which you are eligible across all of the districts. Home Choice Plus has been developed by a number of Local Authorities and Housing Associations working in partnership. Home Choice Plus is a way of allocating housing and advertising other housing options across the participating Local Authority areas. (Home Choice Plus will also be used for advertising other housing options such as private rents and intermediate rents). This booklet explains how to look for housing across all of the Districts involved in this scheme. Please see website for further information. Who is eligible to join the Home Choice Plus register? • Some people travelling to the United Kingdom are not entitled to Housing Association accommodation on the basis of their immigration status. • You may be excluded if you have a history of serious rent arrears or anti social behaviour.
