The Sapphires Rating: PG 103 minutes

The Sapphires is set in the heady days of the late ‘60s when four young, talented singers from a remote Aboriginal mission, are discovered by an unlikely talent scout. Plucked from obscurity and branded as Australia’s answer to The Supremes, The Sapphires grasp the chance of a lifetime when they’re offered their first real gig - entertaining the troops in Vietnam. For the girls, a whole new world of friendship, love, war and soul opens before them.

The Sapphires is an adaptation of the hugely successful Australian stage musical of the same name, and is inspired by the remarkable true story of writer Tony Briggs’ mother and her family. It stars AFI Award winner Deborah Mailman and Australian singer Jessica Mauboy alongside Bridesmaids actor Chris O’Dowd, and features an unbeatable soul music soundtrack. Destined to be a smash Australian hit, The Sapphires boasts a great story full of love, laughter and tears, set against the backdrop of the social upheaval of the 1960s, with wonderful performances from the entire cast.

You’ve Been Trumped Rating: PG 103 minutes In this David and Goliath story for the 21st century, a group of proud Scottish homeowners take on a celebrity tycoon. At stake is one of Britain’s very last stretches of wilderness.

American billionaire Donald Trump has bought up hundreds of acres on the northeast coast of Scotland, best known to movie-lovers as the setting for the 1983 classic film Local Hero. And like the American oil tycoon played by Burt Lancaster, he needs to buy out a few more locals to make the deal come true. In a land swimming with golf courses, Trump is going to build two more – alongside a 450-room hotel and 1,500 luxury homes. The trouble is, the land he has purchased occupies one of Europe’s most environmentally sensitive stretches of coast, described by one leading scientist as Scotland’s Amazon rain forest. And the handful of local residents don’t want it destroyed.

Funny, inspiring and heartbreaking in turns, You’ve Been Trumped is both an entertaining, can’t- believe-it’s-true tale and an environmental parable for our celebrity driven times. With a moving score the film also offers a rare and revealing glimpse of the unfiltered Donald Trump, as he considers standing as a candidate for President of the United States.

The Rolling Stones: Crossfire Hurricane

Rating: M 111 minutes

Crossfire Hurricane, which takes its title from the opening lines of “Jumping Jack Flash”, provides a remarkable new perspective on The Rolling Stones’ unparalleled journey from blues-obsessed teenagers in the early 60s to rock royalty for almost five decades.

The film combines extensive historical footage, much of it widely unseen, with contemporary commentaries by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and former Stones, Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. Period interviews, extensive live performance material and news archive give the production a truly kinetic aura and no-holds-barred approach.

Coinciding with the The Rolling Stones 50th anniversary, this commemorative documentary pays tribute to the extraordinary success of the band, directed by Academy Award-nominated Brett Morgan (The Kid Stays in the Picture).

Seven Psychopaths Rating: R16 110 minutes

From the team who created , comes Seven Psychopaths, an inventive, violent, hilarious film that retains the deft writing and comically twisted creativity about moralistic criminals that made In Bruges a cult classic.

Novice screenwriter Marty (Farrell) has come down with a bad case of writer’s block and is struggling to find inspiration for his new script “Seven Psychopaths”. All he needs is a little focus and some deranged oddballs for inspiration. Billy (Rockwell) is Marty’s best friend, an unemployed actor and part-time dog thief, who wants to help Marty, by any means necessary. Hans (Walken) is Billy’s partner in crime. Charlie (Harrelson) is the psychopathic gangster whose beloved dog, Billy and Hans have just stolen. Charlie is unpredictable, extremely violent and wouldn’t think twice about killing anyone and anything associated with the theft. Marty is going to get all the focus and inspiration he needs, just as long as he lives to tell the tale.

Love Is All You Need Rating: M 110 minutes

Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm star in this sparkling romantic comedy from Academy Award winner Susanne Bier, about two very different families brought together for a wedding in a beautiful old Italian villa.

Ida (Dyrholm) is preparing to take a trip to Sorrento with her husband Leif to attend the wedding of their daughter Astrid and her fiancé, Patrick. Arriving home early one day, Ida discovers Leif has been unfaithful and makes the decision to take the trip alone. At the airport, Ida accidently collides with brooding widower Philip (Brosnan) whom she discovers to be Patrick’s father. Cold and business-focused, Philip is unimpressed with the happy-go-lucky Ida. Forced to travel together, the two find it hard to tolerate each other and are relieved when they arrive at the villa.

Surrounded by lemon groves, cypress trees and the romance of Italy, the perfect backdrop for Astrid and Patrick’s wedding, the young couple’s future happiness is suddenly jeopardized and Ida and Philip are brought together to try to set things right.

Love Is All You Need is an enchanting and delightful story about what happiness really means and discovering that it’s never too late to have a second chance at love.

You Will Be My Son Rating: M 102 minutes

Directed by Gilles Legrand, You Will Be My Son stars Niels Arestrup as Paul de Marseul, a prestigious wine-maker and owner of a renowned chateau and vineyard in Saint-Émilion, whom is disheartened by the notion of his son Martin (Lorànt Deutsch) taking over the family business. Martin does not seem to have inherited the qualities that Paul esteems in a wine-maker: persistence, creative insight and technical prowess matched with passion for the job and the product, and Paul frequently reminds him of this, whether explicitly or in subtle gestures.

When Philippe (Nicolas Bridet) appears at the vineyard, Paul leaps at the chance to name him as his successor, neglecting the wishes of his own son. The tension in this familial triangle comes to a head when an unexpected event changes everything.

Like a fine wine, this drama is full- and complex and provides a fascinating look at the matter of the transmission of knowledge, heritage and tradition in the world of wine.
