Chungdokwan Great Britain

19th April 2017

Dear Members,

The next Dan grading to be hosted by TCGB will take place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 11th June 2017 at: Tiffin Sports Centre, Queen Elizabeth Road, Kingston upon Thames, KT2 6RL.

Please note that only instructors will be permitted in the examining hall to spectate. Please also note the syllabus update that the pattern of choice must be Sa Jang or above.

To check eligibility, provided below is the minimum period between grades and the fees:

Grade Minimum Minimum TCGB Chung Do Plaque Applied Wait Since Continuous Grading Fee (optional) For Last Period of TCGB Fee Grading Membership (optional) 1st Dan 6 months 6 months £60.00 £55.00 £50 NA

2nd Dan 1 year 1 year £80.00 £65.00 £70 NA

3rd Dan 2 years 1 year £100.00 £85.00 £90 NA

4th Dan 3 years 2 years £120.00 £100.00 £120 £150

6th Dan 5 years 2 years £250.00 £300.00 £250 £200

All candidates for Dan gradings are required to apply for their Kukkiwon certification at the same time as they grade for their TCGB grade. In recognition that some candidates may be behind time on their Kukkiwon grades, the Kukkiwon application should be for the candidate’s next relevant grade. This may be different from the TCGB grade. Please ensure you complete the form with your name exactly as it appears on your last Kukkiwon certificate. Unsuccessful candidates will have their Kukkiwon fee refunded where appropriate.

Please ensure all attached forms are completed and returned to the address below together with separate cheques, payable to Chungdokwan GB, for the grading and Kukkiwon fee (please do not send cheques payable to British Taekwondo). If cheques do not clear we will charge a £20 administration fee to cover the bank charges. Alternatively, payment can be made by cash at the seminar or by bank transfer in advance of the application deadline. If paying by bank transfer, please make two transfers: one for the grading and one for the respective Kukkiwon certificate. The applicant’s name should be used as the reference and a copy of the bank transfer receipt should be included with the application forms.

Cooperative Bank Sort Code: 08-92-99 Account No.: 65683815 Licence/membership requirements Candidates for the grading are required to have held a continuous and valid British Taekwondo licence with a TCGB club for a minimum period prior to the grading. For candidates applying to 1st Dan the minimum period is 6 months, to 2nd and 3rd Dan it is 1 year and to Master grade (4th Dan and above), the minimum period is 2 years. Applications received from members whose licences have expired, will not be valid on the date of the grading, or include the licence renewal form with the application, will be excluded from the grading.

Seminar We will also be holding a Seminar on Sunday 28th May 2017 at the same venue from 11am to 2pm. The cost for the seminar will be £10 per person. It is strongly advised that anyone wishing to take part in the grading attend this seminar.

Certification from Korea We encourage our members to also apply for certificates from Chung Do Kwan Korea, although this is not compulsory. This is achieved with a separate application (form attached). From 4th Dan, there is an option to apply for a plaque in addition to the Chung Do Kwan Korea certificate.

Kukkiwon applications between gradings TCGB will also process Kukkiwon applications for anyone who is not up to date with their Kukkiwon certification and where the appropriate waiting time has passed, even if they are not taking part in this grading. In this case, please complete the Kukkiwon Certificate Application Form only and send it with the appropriate fee (cheques payable to Chungdokwan GB).

Application for grading to Master grades For those wishing to grade to 4th Dan (Master level) and above, please note that it is a requirement to submit a thesis (two hard copies and one electronic) to the grading panel by the closing date for applications (28th May 2017). The topic should be discussed with a member of the grading panel in advance of submission and the declaration page (available on the TCGB website: www.chungdokwan.org.uk) must be included. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.

Instructors Please provide the complete pack to your students including this notice and the checklist. We recommend that instructors check applications are complete before signing the TCGB Dan Grading Application. If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected]. The pack is also available online (www.chungdokwan.org.uk).

All forms must be returned to me by 28th May 2017 at the latest. We regret that we will not be able to process any forms received after this date. Please print the forms single sided so each form is submitted as a separate document.

Kind regards
