n September of 2006, RVTD made a tough decision to cut 35% of their I service including the route 4 in Southeast Medford. This decision was based on revenue shortfalls for the FY2006/07 budget year. RVTD is pleased to announce that limited public transit service will be re-established in the east Medford area starting April 5, 2010. RVTD recently received modest funding from the State of Oregon through the Special 6FRWW6KHUERXUQH 5HJJLH-RQHV 5RE6ZDOORZ Transportation Operations program (STO) allowing limited service to be %UDQFK0DQDJHU%33URGXFHU3/6DOHV([HFXWLYH resumed. The service will be called Route 24. Service will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. leaving Front Street Station each hour. The intention of the route is to provide medical and basic needs trips to and from the southeast Medford area. Confining the service hours to the midday allows RVTD to maximize driver time and to limit Valley Lift service to the fixed-route hours. RVTD is re-establishing stops in the area where they existed before on Route 4 and establishing four new  stops. RVTD continues to be attentive to maintaining the costs of operating a regional public transit service. They are not in a position to provide a route all day or with high frequency at this time.
