GOSPEL MEDITATION FOR THE FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT

MARCH 29, 2020 - FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT| 3 KEEPING A HOLY LENT Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and prayer. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated them- selves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. In observing the forty days of Lent, we as Christians imitate Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. Fasting is not simply to give up something for these forty days. It is an offering to God and a commitment to the world, a prayer for the poor, it can be your Young children have may have a difficult time prayer for the eradication of the Coronavirus. understanding Lent. (American author, teacher and pastor, 1921-1994.) Lent is a special time when you can share the concepts of prayer and giving with your children. Take family time each day to offer prayers. Consider as a family how you might help others in need by giving of your time or resources. Even very young children can understand and will enjoy participating in the process. Parents — don’t forget to carve out time in your day for your own special prayer time.

MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY

Pope Francis has encouraged Catholics throughout the world to Pray the Rosary, asking for the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary during these most difficult days of fear and anxiety. Please join together each day in this powerful prayer.

The Crucifixion - Jesus is nailed to the cross and dies.

The Glorious Mysteries The Resurrection - Jesus is raised from the dead. The Ascension - Jesus returns to his Father in heaven. Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most compassionate Mother, we present ourselves in before you in all humility, and with full confidence we implore you to intercede for healing throughout the world. O Blessed Mother, you have been proclaimed by the Holy Church to be the Comforter of the Afflicted and to you constant recourse is had by the sorrowful in their afflictions, the sick in their maladies, the dying in their agony, the poor in their need, and now our world in this present distress and from your intercession all receive consolation and strength. Mary Mother of God, Hear Our Prayer!
