Message from the Director’s Desk: “The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.” Maria Montessori Dear Parents, The above quote by Maria Montessori was written almost a century back emphasizing that the environment that we provide to the children must be rich in motives. Project method, inquiry method, play way method, experiential learning; all mean the same- Providing children a rich environment rich! Adapting ourselves to the need of the 21st century learners, we at IAELC also provide children a rich environment that engages them in meaningful learning. Our classes have enough resources for children because we want children to be in charge of their own learning by working in an intentional and purposeful way And Parents, why do you think we are continuing, practicing and adapting ourselves to something that was said a century back? Well, it has scientifically been proven that 98%of our brain develops in the first six years of a child’s life. And, the richer environment you provide to the children, the more neural connections will take place in the developing brain of a child. Experiential learning is lifelong learning and we want our children to be lifelong learners and not rote learners. Our CEO, Gen Arjun Ray says, “In order to be a lifelong learner, we must learn how to manage change and accept that change is the normal. It is this ability that has enabled the human species to evolve to where we are today. Human beings will stop evolving the day they cannot adapt to change. The 4th Industrial Age has arrived. Driven by Artificial Intelligence and bio-technology, the changes in the next 15 years will be more than what we have experienced in the past one thousand years. Such is the awesome rate of change and acceleration affecting our life and work. About 40 percent of today’s jobs are likely to disappear by 2030. One cannot be a lifelong learner if one is not learnable. The key to learning is the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn. ”

The second term has begun with fun, excitement and many celebrations. Starting from Gandhi Jayanti, a weeklong celebration, followed by Raas Garba, Diwali Haat Mela and finally the DEAR week which was culminated by celebrating the Children Lit Festival, “Once Upon A Time…..”

STEAM:

Water sustains life! The STEAM theme for the month of November will be ‘Water.’ As children grow and comprehend the world around them, it is important they learn just how vital water is to their bodies and our environment. Children are our future, and they should be given a full understanding of water, why it is important, and how they can protect it. A shark science buoyancy activity to explore and find out why sharks don’t sink and what enables their bodies to float is going to be a very interesting and fun experiment to teach a complex concept such as buoyancy and thermoregulation to the children. They will also explore and observe the Blubber glove experiment to find out how whales stay warm in the chilled waters. We will be discovering and exploring the different states of matter with water, ice and steam, to see how matter can change states from solid to liquid to gas. We will be conducting experiments to observe the solubility of different substances in water through simple tests to find out which substance dissolves in water and why the said substance dissolves faster in water. In the month of November, the children will also be introduced to the toys, a traditional craft. Channapatna toys are a particular form of wooden toys that are manufactured in the town of Channapatna in the district of state, .

The children are now busy preparing themselves for the Indus Altum Day which is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2019. This will be followed by the Christmas Carnival on Friday, December 20, 2019

The PAC meeting was held on November 4, 2019. I thank the PAC members for their constructive feedback and we have started working on the points mentioned during the PAC meeting.
