100 FOR STAAL Hurricanes center Jordan Staal notched his 100th Hurricanes assist in the first frame at St. Louis on Thursday, and added another helper in the third period for his second multi-assist game of the season. Staal currently ranks third in the league in faceoff win- percentage (59.4%) among players who have taken over 300 faceoffs.

DYNAMIC DUO Carolina forwards Jeff Skinner and Victor Rask have earned points in two consecutive games, each recording a goal and an assist. The linemates have combined for 57 points in 39 games this season. Skinner leads the team in goals (14), power-play points (12), and shots (137). Rask leads the team in assists (17), is tied for first on the team in game-winning goals (2), and ranks second behind Skinner in goals (11).

DOUBLE FINN TROUBLE Each with a point on Tuesday vs. New Jersey, Finnish-born forwards, and linemates Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen have combined for 41 points in 38 games played this season. WORLD JUNIOR ‘CANES’ Julien Gauthier, Nicolas Roy, Jake Bean and Team Canada fell in the fifth round of a shootout to the U.S. in a textbook gold medal game on Thursday. The Junior Canes’ had an unbelievable showing for Team Canada in the seven-game tournament. Gauthier finished with seven points (5g, 2a), including two game-winning goals, and a plus-2 rating. Roy tallied three goals, and notched an assist, while Bean earned two assists and a plus-1. Hurricanes prospect Janne Kuokkanen and Team Finland edged Latvia in the relegation round, and Kuokkanen notched an assist in the series.

WE’RE GOING STREAKING! The Hurricanes earned points in 11 straight games at PNC Arena from Nov. 12-Dec. 31, earning a 10-0-1 record in those games. The streak ranks tied for third in franchise history behind the team’s franchise record 12-game home winning streak from 2008-09, and 15- game home points-earned streak from 2005-06.
