Payments after February 15 require the extra postage for issues missed. Back issues (Winter 1994-present) may be purchased at $7.50 + $2.50 postage per number, or $30.00 per volume. I asked him where he was going & he said he was going home he was not exceeding a half a mile from his plantation & House in Lenoir County. Question by J. B. WHITFIELD is Bright HARPER a free holder in this county of fifty acres of land free of incumberance & has he possessed the same six: months previous to the day of Election Answer he is he owns more than one hundred acres of land in Lenoir County & has owned it more than six months before the Election Question by J. WHITFIELD were they Counted for HARPER Answer They were Question by J C WASHINGTON in what direction was the Duplin County line from Bright HARPER when you met him Answer he was coming from towards Duplin County & his back was towards the Duplin County line Question by J C WASHINGTON agent for HARPER did he pay a land & poll tax in this County for the last Year or two Answer last year he paid a land tax in this County but did not a poll tax last year he lived in Duplin Co Question by J C WASHINGTON agent for HARPER do you or do you not Know that Bright HARPER lives with his brother Warren HARPER in Duplin County and if you do not Know that fact is it not so understood in the neighbourhood Answer he sometimes Stays in Duplin & Sometimes in Lenoir County & I Expect he stays at Warren HARPERS when in Duplin Question by J C WASHINGTON agent for James HARPER why did you not collect his poll tax for last Year when you did his land tax for last year Answer because in 1839 he was in Duplin County Question by J C WASHINGTON agent for James HARPER has Abram TAYLOR Ever paid a land tax or any friend of his paid one for him Answer they has never brn any land tax charged to him on the list Since I have bin Sheriff of the County Question dus Richard W.
