In order to give designers some inspiration for the design the following facts may be of use. There are various countries in the geographic region under the auspices of the Board which caters for the entire EU, excluding the UK and Ireland, but also including other states within the continent of Europe. Currently there are over 50 clubs, and 20+ groups starting clubs, in 20 countries including: Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, German, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Channel Islands, Gibraltar, Italy. The Board caters for all Gaelic games codes:- camogie, hurling, football, ladies football. We have male and female players both youth and adult. Our work includes administration of the organisation and of the games. The Board is affiliated to the three Gaelic Games organisations whose logos are depicted below. We also support coaching, refereeing, promotion of the Irish language and culture etc. The logo might reflect the GAA vision Our vision is that everybody has the opportunity to be welcomed to take part in our games and culture, to participate fully, to grow and develop and to be inspired to keep a lifelong engagement with our Association. Whilst the GAA mission is: “The GAA is a community based volunteer organisation promoting Gaelic games, culture and lifelong participation.” The GAA is a volunteer organisation. We develop and promote Gaelic games at the core of Irish identity and culture. We are dedicated to ensuring that our family of games, and the values we live, enrich the lives of our members, families and the communities we serve. We are committed to active lifelong participation for all and to providing the best facilities. The European Board is the officially recognised affiliated body for the three Gaelic Sports associations – the Gaelic Athletic Association, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association & the Camogie Association Chairperson: Brian SHEEHY Secretary: Tony BASS c/o Salviabeemd 37c, 6229 XA Maastricht, Netherlands t: +31 64 660 6000 / e: [email protected] / www.europegaa.eu We reach out to and include all members of our society. We promote individual development and well-being and strive to enable all our members achieve their full potential in their chosen roles. The GAA as a member-led organisation has clear values, which include: Community Identity • Community is at the heart of our Association. Everything we do helps to enrich the communities we serve • We foster a clear sense of identity and place Amateur Status • We are a volunteer led organisation • All our members play and engage in our games as amateurs • We provide a games programme at all levels to meet the needs of all our players Inclusiveness • We welcome everybody to be part of our Association • We are anti-sectarian • We are anti-racist Respect • We respect each other on and off the playing fields • We operate with integrity at all levels • We listen and respect the views of all Player Welfare • We provide the best playing experience for all our players. • We structure our games to allow players of all abilities reach their potential Teamwork • Effective teamwork on and off the field is the cornerstone of our Association • Ní neart go cur le chéile (There is no strength without working together) General Logo Guidance The new European GAA logo can be any shape, size, style or colour and may include a tag line or not as fits with the design. Suggestions in relation to typefaces to be used in conjunction with the logo/crest, particularly if your design has text, would be appreciated. Please note: there is a proposal to change the name of the Board to “European Council” thus any design should not use either term or be easily amended. The European Board is the officially recognised affiliated body for the three Gaelic Sports associations – the Gaelic Athletic Association, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association & the Camogie Association Chairperson: Brian SHEEHY Secretary: Tony BASS c/o Salviabeemd 37c, 6229 XA Maastricht, Netherlands t: +31 64 660 6000 / e: [email protected] / www.europegaa.eu The logo should be crisp, simple, memorable, clean, recognisable, resizable and printer friendly in a wide variety of media such as on the web (website, Facebook or Twitter icons etc), stationary, clothing such as team kit, souvenir jerseys & hoodies, backdrops & posters, merchandising, badges, membership & business cards, etc. Resizing ability is important as the logo/crest may be used in small formats such as an icon on a Facebook post or as part of a large display/backdrop – so experiment and ensure logo is scalable. It is desirable that the logo should also be capable of being used in black/white or other two- colour versions. Whilst traditional logo’s are well suited to an organisation founded almost 130 years ago, the European Board is much newer (1999) and thus a logo which portrays a high-tech feeling and is distinctive and modern might also suit. Sometimes new times require new solutions. A modern logotype design style which aims to immediately attract the viewer's attention with appealing colors and eye-catching designs may also be a good base for the design. There are many useful resources on logo design, one useful link is available here: http://ebusinessmatters.com/logo-design-tutorial/ If using any existing icons, symbols or images please ensure they are not copyrighted or not too similar to any existing logo’s (GAA logo’s may be an exception in this case). Please also try to ensure that any suggested image does not contain any imagery which might cause offence such as religious symbols or national emblems. Technical specification The proposed logo/crest should be supplied as high resolution image in any popular modern print file format suitable for printing such as:- Tagged Image File (.tiff) Acrobat Portable Document Format (.pdf) Encapsulated Post Script (.eps) JPEG Image Format (.jpg) Adobe Photoshop Document (.psd) Adobe Illustrator Document (.ai) A separate PDF file should also be submitted if the original is not in that format (to enable judging). • AIB Launches the Toughest Season - a Year Like No Other in Gaelic Games
30 November 2020 AIB launches The Toughest Season - A Year like no other in Gaelic Games Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to AIB’s partner charities, Age NI, Alone, FoodCloud, Soar & Pieta AIB, alongside Galway & Corofin footballer Ian Burke and former Dublin & Ballinteer St Johns footballer Coman Goggins, has launched The Toughest Season photobook, a pictorial account of how hurling, football and camogie communities came together to support one another throughout one of the toughest years in history. Inspired by the strength of spirit within Gaelic Games communities, AIB has partnered with Sportsfile, the GAA and the Camogie Association, to publish The Toughest Season, which captures in 120 images the resilience of clubs, fans, and communities before, during and after the COVID 19 lockdown. All proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the AIB Together Fund supporting Age NI, Alone, FoodCloud, Soar and Pieta House. 2020 saw club gates close and games cease yet club chairpersons, players and volunteers were never busier. The tougher the year was, the stronger we became. In the first few weeks of the first lockdown, 9,000 GAA club members provided support for almost 35,000 people. It is this spirit that AIB has been proud to champion through three decades of sponsoring the AIB GAA Club Championships across football, hurling and camogie. Earlier this Autumn, AIB called on those across the country to take part by submitting their own images that depict their experience of ‘The Toughest Season’. Along with Sportsfile imagery, the book is comprised of photographs from individuals across Ireland who have visually shared their own stories.

Communications and PR 14 1 Foreword Gaelic games in Europe have grown rapidly since four clubs came together in Amsterdam in 1999 to establish the European County Board of the GAA. So, as we enter our 20th year, it is entirely appropriate that we celebrate the fact that over 90 clubs from more than 20 countries now cater for thousands of youths and adults who play gaelic football, camogie, hurling, handball and rounders across the continent. Any organisation that wishes to remain vibrant and successful needs to review, reflect and renew itself on an ongoing basis to ensure that it remains relevant to its members. While good progress was made in implementing our 2016-2018 Strategic Plan, we must also acknowledge that there was room for improvement. New issues have also emerged and more will do so in the coming years. That is why my priority on being elected GGE chair was to put in place a process to identify what we do well, what we can do better and create a plan to address future challenges.
