International Panel Statement – 3rd April 2018 Amended 11th April 2018
Amended 11th April 2018 – The International Panel wish to apologise for an error in the junior team reserves which has now been corrected in this updated version.
Following the Canoe Slalom 2018 Junior, U23 and Senior Selection Series held at Holme Pierrepont and Lee Valley Whitewater centres, the following athletes are selected to the 2018 Great Britain Senior, U23 and Junior Teams in Canoe Slalom in accordance with the published policy:

2019 Selection Series Information In the published policy as part of developing a selection strategy, the International Panel pledged to identify the dates and venue(s) for 2019 selection. In order to meet organisation timelines for the 2019 Junior & U23 World Championships which will take place 1-5 May 2019 in Brazil, Junior & U23 selection is proposed to run together during March 2019 which is a change from the information published in the 2018 selection policy. At present the weekends of 23/24 March 2019 and 30/31 March 2019 have been identified to host junior and U23 selection. Senior Team selection is proposed to take place over 4 days on the 19-22 April at Lee Valley Whitewater Centre.

IMPORTANT – All junior, U23 and senior selected athletes are asked to confirm their intentions to take up 2018 British Team place(s) by sending email confirmation to [email protected] by Monday 9thApril Midday. Please discuss with coaches and share your thoughts to assist firming up final team members for each race. Greg Hitchen is leading on U23 & Junior teams as well as world cup 4 and Mark Ratcliffe will lead on all other senior activity.
Extreme Canoe Slalom Attention is drawn to the selection event on the 21/22 April 2018 which will select athletes for the 2018 Junior/U23 & Senior Extreme Canoe Slalom Teams. Full details and the selection policy can be found here.
2019 Selection Policy & 2020 Olympic Selection Policy Development by the International Panel of a draft 2019 selection policy which will include the 2020 Olympic Team Selection Policy is well underway. As part of the development process, there will be a consultation process during April/May 2018. The target is to release the draft policy for consultation during the week commencing 23rd April 2018 for a period of 3 weeks. Once released please take the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed policies and look out for the consultation process on www.britishcanoeing.org.uk and www.canoeslalom.co.uk.

Appeals The British Canoeing selection policy has a three stage appeal process as outlined in appendix 2 of the policy. Please remember that any appeal must be submitted within 48 hours of the publication of this statement to the chair of the IP [email protected].
Finally The standard of competition across all age groups and classes was very high indeed and a reflection of the hard work put in by all the athletes competing in this 2018 selection series. The International Panel wish to thank all competitors who competed for team places over the weekend, their support teams and particularly the volunteers that delivered another memorable event and wish those selected a successful 2018 International season.
