NEW BOAT RAMP FOR TINTALDRA

Towong Shire Council is seeking feedback from Tintaldra and surrounding communities on concept plans for the construction of a boat ramp at Reserve, Tintaldra.

The concept plans have been developed to ensure the the purpose-built boat ramp will overcome many of the safety risks associated with the current launch site.

The new concrete ramp will be built approximately 40m downstream of the Tintaldra Bridge, and will involve the construction of concrete wings and beaching rock to provide protection from erosion. The development of a trailer and parking space will take place well above the riverbank facing Back Tintaldra Road.

The Walwa- Fishing Club have thrown their support behind the proposal in a written letter of support stating, “The Walwa-Jingellic Fishing Club would like to show support for the implementation of the new boat ramp. Our Club has always used the ramp under the bridge for some years and find it very unsafe at times. Some other groups who would benefit from this would be tourists, emergency services, and other fishing clubs.”

Towong Shire Mayor, Cr Aaron Scales said Council values contributions from community members and groups who will use the ramp to inform final plans. “We’re hoping for some good insights from our community members. We expect construction to start around February next year,” he said.
